Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 11:43 AM by BlueEyedSon
I gave a little to the ACLU the day after congress passed the MCA

I gave a little more to MoveOn for their VoteVets ad

I want to directly support a Dem candidate where the race is close and a small contribution can do some good. I was thinking about Sanders but he's gonna win without my help.....

1. Kirsten Gillibrand
She is so close to knocking Sweeney out of Congress. We really need to get him out of Congress.

23. Seconded - the Gillibrand campaign is on the cusp of...
...removing one of the BIGGEST scumbags in congress - John Sweeney (NY-20), the ARCHITECT of the Brooks Brothers Riot in FL, 2000...:grr:

2. Wetterling in Minnesota
Republican candidate Bachman is BatShitCrazy Hot for Jesus.

And, no, I do not live in Minnesota.

Visit the Minnesota forum for numerous threads about this contest.

3. In my district
Danny Stover is running against Inspector John Shimkus. Stover still has an uphill battle since this is a Republican district, but it can be won after the scandal with some radio and TV advertising. He's a good Democrat and worthy candidate as well.

13. Yes, he can win.
The last poll showed Shimkus with 53%, which is a lead but it represents at least a 15% point drop in his poll numbers. That was after only a few days of bad news about the scandal. His numbers will continue to drop, and Danny Stover's numbers will go up now that he has gotten money for a little advertising. It would be a huge upset that was unthinkable before the scandal. Shimkus is a vile rubber stamp for Bush that needs to be drive out of Congress immediately.

Money for an additional ad might mean the tip of the balance in the Senate:

6. Oh please consider Kirsten Gillibrand
We need to get rid of the scum Sweeney here. Sweeney is the one who led the young republican group in FL in '00 in the recount. He's involved with Delay, Abramoff, the Marianas sex slave scandal, took Foley money and hasn't returned it and so much more. Kirsten can represent the people of NY 20, she will be a progressive vote in the house. Anything you can give would be appreciated.

And he is well funded!

17. I second this suggestion
John is a young guy who had the guts to take on Hastert. He is a union carpenter who has served in the military, his brother is currently in Iraq and I am SO PROUD of John - and I don't even live in his state. I've donated twice and have received two thank you letters (snail mail) from the campaign - and I have to say I have contributed to several other campaigns and haven't got as much as an email thank you.....not that I really hold that against them - but I thought it was quite classy of the Laesch campaign to send out these thank you letters.

Whatever you do I would suggest you check with DCCC website and see what kind of support they are giving to a particular candidate - if they are supporting someone heavily - your money might be better sent to someone who isn't getting help from or less help from the "party"

I don't have much money, but I decided last night to make a small donation to John Laesch's campaign. Thanks for making it easy for me.

26. Thank you
I heard John Laesch on Bob Kincaid in early September and for whatever reason am really drawn to him. Thank you for sending some money - evidently the DCCC isn't helping them out yet...it is beyond my comprehension why they can't help him even if its only a little bit....

8. I'm probably going to donate to Pavitch (Weller's opponent)
Booman has a profile of him and he sounds like an intelligent voice that we need in Congress. I also think he needs some immediate cash to make sure the Weller scandal (if true) gets known in the district. Picking up another easy seat helps all the rest of the candidates. Booman profile

14. One of the two most important races nationwide:
Jennifer Brunner for Ohio Secretary of State. www.jenniferbrunner.com

Jennifer is a former elections attorney, legislative counsel for the SOS office and Common Pleas Judge. Her opponent is a Bush-Cheney guy from Texas!!

The ORP is already giving up on Blackwell's bid for Governor. They are going to throw money at the SOS and Auditor's races in an attempt to keep control over the apportionment board and counting the votes.

They are already running BS attack ads against Jennifer.

Your donation would mean a great deal to this race.

It would be a real coup to pull this seat out in the 2nd most conservative state in the union.

I found this page really helpful

http://electoral-vote.com/evp2006/Info/hothouse.html

i'll probably fund 2, maybe stretch to 3

Gillibrand
Stender

I would like to see Heather Wilson out of a job, my stretch would be to send some $ to her opponent.

28. Jay Fawcett, Colorado 5th District!
This is the district that is always staunchly RW, but when Joel Hefley decided to quit, they got a far-right fundie, and he isn't doing very well. Even Hefley himself isn't endorsing him! ~~gigglesnort~~

It would be unheard of for a Dem to get this district, (Dobson territory), but Fawcett is doing very well, and just needs to be able to complete $$$$-wise.

http://www.fawcett4congress.com/

The Denver Post has endorsed Fawcett, and here's an article about how well he is doing:

National Dems eye 5th District http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_4503070

I'm sure a small donation would help, and be very much appreciated! This would be a HUGE win!

Thanks for your consideration!
