When the Dems are the majority in January, does that mean
all those Pub lobbyists will become unemployed?

I was thinking about that for a while. When DeLay became the leader, he told all the lobbyist firms they better hire Pubs or noone would meet with them...and they did!

What does that mean now?

Could we have any chance that the lobbyist crowd will significantly be reduced??????

5. That's what it's turned into, butit didn't begin that way.
I remember, about 20 years ago, I was Secretary of a Streetrod car club in Pa. We wanted to get the State to pass a law governing Streetrods (for a lot of reasons you probably don't care about) and get our own Streetrod license plate. We were advised that the only way to do something like that was tohire someone with connections to meetwith a State Senator and convince him to sponsor a bill...donating something to his campaign would be a HELP TOO!

Wedidn't have a lot of $$, but we hired a "lobbyist" for $250 and donated $200 to the Senator's campaign. It took a while, but the law got passed and we got a Streetrod license plate.

With thousands of constituents, and in many cases millions, I can see the need for lobbyists. The problem happened when the Hosue and the Senate started letting the lobbyists write legislation, and literally bribe them into voting for bills just for the campaign money! I don't know if we'll ever see it outlawed!
