Hey Ohio Dems... How is Voinavich going to Vote on Alito??
Edited on Wed Jan-25-06 06:40 PM by Blue Belle
He was pretty upset with the Bolton appointment... and his tearful speach was full of worry for the country. Is he still worried? Or will he be a good German who tows the party line and votes Alito in? Anyone know?

2. I'm not an Ohioian but he will vote the party line
With his senate seat in jeapordy if he doesn't support Bush on this, he could be challenged in the primary on the right and lose. That is my guess.

4. Well... I wrote to ask him to vote against Alito anyway...
just on the off-chance that he may listen o reason.

Here is my letter:

Dear Senator Voinovich,

I was reminded today of your emotional speech on the Senate floor urging other Republican Senators to vote against John Bolton as Ambassador to the UN. You shared your fears of the danger to democracy, and feared for the future for your Grandchildren. Senator, if we allow a Federalist like Samuel Alito to preside on the Supreme Court, we are putting democracy as we know it at risk. Alito has all but assured us that he intends to extend the power of the Executive Branch, and if that happens, it will severely hobble the power of the Legislative Branch as far as oversight is concerned. Please, Senator, think of the future... think of the repercussions that this decision has for our children.

Please vote against Samuel Alito.

I had to try. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't.
