I know a lot of people have their stories from the street about how the tide is turning or whatever. I don't know if I believe them or if any of it translates into victory this November. But, I can tell you this. There a lot of young males in this country plopping down sports bets and playing poker online. Many of my friends fall into that category and they also lean to the right. For five years, I have tried to tell them the war on terror is a scam, there are a lot of unanswered questions about 9/11, the right doesn't care if all industrial jobs leave the country, PNAC plans have been in the works for years, etc., etc.
For the most part, I have been ignored. That was, until this week. You see, the online books are freezing their accounts and not taking wagers. These guys are pissed. They now know who Bill Frist is and I have explained to them about his cat-killing exploits. They are even more appalled that such a hypocrite could take the moral high ground in passing this legislation. This was the last straw for them. They were already getting a little tired of the religious hypocrisy. But, take away a man's poker and his sports bets, and you have crossed the line. Congratulations, Frist and Co., you have lost the support of at least ten young Republicans that I know.
As one of these meatheads said: "I can legally download video of a girl getting f----- and then puked on, but i cant legally place $10 of my hard earned after tax dollars on virginia tech to beat boston college by more than 2 and a half f---ing points."
Anyway, there is one positive report I can contribute from the street. Who knew anti-gaming legislation could help us in this crucial month before the elections? Here's to you, cat-killer! :toast:
