Kidney's out and looking good!
Okay, the gay kidney jokes have been cracking me up this morning, which hurts but is good for me. :)

They got everything out but they had to take some rib while they were at it. The pain control is decent with the epidural. THe surgeon found no visible evidence of spread of the tumor, no lymph nodes, and no vein involvement, all of which are good signs. Drawing blood continues to be a difficult proposition (I have rolling veins). All in all, things are going fine, and I am hoping to get home in the next few days. Thank you all for the kind wishes and thoughts and prayers. I know they are helping.

Funny story: I woke up in recovery, and the anesthesiologist was a republican state senator talking politics with a student. She didn't know the answer to a history question but I did. I would have told her to check out the dems' web site but was drifting in and out.

Glad to hear you are doing so well and got good knews. Love the recovery story. I got too much nitrous in the dental chair once and thought the dentist was the Devil - or maybe it was Cheney...I dunno they both look so much alike. Best wishes for a speedy recovery from "Up North" in GR. :hi:

Especially for someone who's just been through what you have! :applause: Good job by both you and your medical professionals -- it takes all of you to get it done right. :)

That IS a funny story, too!

It's particularly encouraging that you're getting proper pain control AND that they seem to be satisfied they "got it all." Couldn't hope for a much better outcome, right?

Waytago, Knitter ... you didn't even drop a stitch! :applause:

Had a chuckle at the recovery room story, but I'm not surprised. You had a roomful of well informed liberals surrounding you all day yesterday with blessings and good thoughts. Even if you hadn't known the answer, someone would have shared it with you.

it's hard to type, so i'll keep this short.

i'm up in the chair for the 2nd time today. We've seen another anesthesiologist, the surgeon on call, and the doc who did the surgery--on his day off, too. these are good people. the nurses have been awesome.

i'm having a bit of a cough, but i seem mostly fine. i sure have an impressive scar--at least 10".

I'm in Bronson, and I'm glad I'm here. He did a great job on me, no complaints, but he was on a rant with the poor student. I was impressed that he said not to trust either party's websites and instead to read around as much as possible.

89. Great news!
My sister-in-law had kidney cancer 4 years ago, also with no spread to her lymph nodes so she didn't have to have chemo. She just had her checkup a couple months ago and everything still looks good. May you have the same outcome.

96. Can't resist an obvious joke.
If the kidney is out and it's looking good, why was it removed to begin with?

Okay, I hear the crickets. I'm here all week. Enjoy the veal.
