Oh Well, I'm just not gonna vote.... Don't trust Diebold....
Electronic voting is not trustworthy...

All the GOP Secretary's of State will just steal the vote anyway, flip a switch for their candidates to win...

I can't vote absentee 'cause they will just toss my ballot out it won't count anyway...

I can't vote on a paper ballot because they just ain't gonna count it...

I give up...

Why should I even bother...

Rove controls everything...

Bush's Evil Empire has tentacles everywhere and no matter what we do we will loose...

The media is against the democrats...

You know what....

That is just sampling of some of the defeatism that is setting in creeping into the posts here on DU...

I don't know about you but I am voting absentee and I live in Ohio....

7. And, one of the side effects of political assasination...
both attempted (anthrax) and successful (Wellstone) is opposition party timidity.

5. I haven't seen any posts that say "I'm not voting" . . .
but I've seen plenty that express profound concern that they're planning to steal yet another one -- concern that is thoroughly rational and undeniably well-founded . . .

everyone must certainly vote! . . . but let's not underestimate either their intentions or their capabilities . . .

and let's not concede a single seat where a Republican is declared a winner! . . . let's demand a recount . . . and if that's not possible (and in many cases it won't be), let's demand that the results be thrown out and a new election held . . . on paper ballots . . .

candidates . . . start your lawyers!!! . . .

8. My ballot should arrive in the mail today
I think the key for absentee voting is not to punch a dem only ticket

throw in a few repugs, just make sure they're lesser positions and not congressional seats.
hopefully that'll be enough for the diebold machines not to shred them

12. Gets to me as well. In fact
I have always disliked the paranoia thing with diebold and electronic voting. You would think they have been convicted in vote fraud. Now I am in favor of efforts to improve the security and transparency sure. I would even help. My opinion is that voting has always been subject to fraud, but that in most cases it is insignificant compared to the vote spread and also nigh impossible to prove.

If you you ask me it's a hidden agenda! No true Democrat would even consider not voting.

16. I'm voting.
And should Crackwell win, I'll be part of the caravan/riot/lynch mob down at the state house, demanding the rigged system be taken out and he resign immediately. But that's not going to happen. They can't Diebold 19-25 points away. Too crooked, even for them.

17. Yes, the CU and FR moles and the GOP operatives are out in force
Don't discount people very understandable fears. However, mocking concerned voters isn't going to help much, either. And actually, I've yet to read a post by any real DUer saying I WILL NOT VOTE. No one is saying that. I'm much more concerned with the number of posts already declaring we have the election in the bag...that is far more dangerous, IMO, because of the ol' "massive margin" theory; we can't just hope to win, we MUST win turn out in record numbers and hand them an overwhelming landslide, then fight them afterwards if the pull some funny business...which virtually any sane voter fully expects them to try.

Thanks for your post! (BTW, did you read the post about how absentee ballots might actually HELP the GOP? :hi: )

that the Republicans created."

Yet ANOTHER reason I've seen for not bothering to vote.

(And, yes, I've seen posts at DU trying to convince us NOT to bother! They're really getting desperate out there.)

22. VOTE VOTE VOTE!
But don't deny the facts that the previous elections were stolen and that this one may very well be.

That doesn't mean don't vote.

In fact it gives us all a real argument FOR voting. If everybody votes Democrat and the pubs STILL win, it'll give yet more evidence of the outright fraud that is happening out there.
