Well with N. Korea it looks like Bush and the GOP got their diversion
Even though Bush ignored North Korea for six years and now were in a heck of a mess because of it, it has taken Foley and Iraq off the front pages and will allow him to use this "crisis" for several weeks as political diversion.

Will Bush be held accountable for being asleep on the job again (as he was re: 9/11 and Katrina) with N.Korea or will he be able to ride out this storm and save his party in November?

2. My tv said more about Foley than Korea.
It isn't gong to work. Rove's plans are not viable.

4. The coverage I'm seeing isn't very good for shrub.
It's pointing out the disaster his foreign policy has been. CNN seems to be the only outlet pushing terra terra terra all the time. I don't watch FOX.

6. There is growing suspicion that N Korea faked it...that is to
say that, rather than a nuke, it was a more likely a subterrainian chamber filled with TNT.

For instance, it's :20 after the hour and CNN is talking about school shootings, not the wall-to-wall coverage the pugs need to divert from more domestic troubles.

8. And if they were gonna play this up, we wouldn't be hearing that.
They'd be screaming "NUKE!!!" at the top of their lungs, 24/7.

I think they realize that this isn't gonna help them, so
they are playing it down. The reports of the blast's
size vary greatly; and in the US media the number seems
to get smaller and smaller.
Initially, it was reported as 5-15 KT, but now it's been
reduced by some to as little as 1/2 KT.

7. I can't see how it's possible that this is good for the GOP
If people are truly more outraged by Foley's fetish for 16-year-olds than they are about NK busting a nuke (real or pretend - successful or failed) then we're in much more trouble than I originally thought. Besides, do you think the news will cover it or just spin and prevaricate as per usual? My thoughts are the latter. It's their job to make * look good whenever possible.
