Why is C-Span keeping the Alito votes up on screen..
in that little side panel? Could it be because a majority yea vote would be easier to fight a filibuster with?

"LOOKIE LOOKIE. . . the ma-JOR-ity wants him in.."

THEN we have to explain to the brain dead why the rights of the minority have to be protected. We are fighting the Revolution all over again...damn.

3. No, really...it is always there
I can't remember ever NOT seeing it. Because a lot of times I just surf by and check out what the vote is, especially if I am teaching and can't keep the TV on.

9. Oh dear...I DON'T KNOW!
I think it probably IS the house I check out the most. The latest thing with Murtha...that was the House. That's the last one I remember.

So I hang my head in shame and stand corrected.

6. Very strange...
Never seen it before.

They're still debating. When the votes are being taken, they usually keep a running tally, but not individual names, and certainly not while they're still debating.

Maybe they're trying to keep up with the other 'news' channels - all those tickers and graphics and window dressing that makes me crazy.

7. Um, because it's information?
Not everything is a nefarious plot.

8. I'm actually glad they're doing it...

I'm watching that more closely than I am listening to the debate.

What's really important here is how the swing Democrats will declare. So far, nothing from Byrd, Landrieu, Lincoln, Pryor...and nothing from the so-called moderate Republicans Collins and Snow.

This is the ballgame - I'm glad they're showing it.
