It's pretty weird. In the middle of the desert the Chinese People's Army built an artificial landscape, 800 x 1000 feet big (that's several football fields), complete with lakes, rivers, roads and snow-capped mountains. It's an exact 1:500 scale-model duplicate of Aksai Chin, which China has occupied since the 1962 Sino-Indian War. In Google Earth you can see a hundred or so troop carriers parked, coming, or going.

According to legend, the first emperor was buried in the Forbidden City of a scale model of China at the time of his death. Perhaps this is where Jiang plans to be entombed?
