For the first time in my life I agree with Ben Stein - Sort of!
On Sunday Ben Stein gave a commentary on CBS Sunday morning. I can't stand to listen to his drone voice and never, never agree with what he is saying. But I listen anyway because my wife like the CBS Sunday Morning show.

His Commnetary was titleed "Is Foley That Big A Deal?"
I believe it is a big deal not because it is a sex scandle but because it involves sex with children by law maker none the less. Then there is the cover up by the rest of the scoundrels. And it gripes me that this little piss ant is trying to make out like this is not a big deal when he was one of them screaming for Clinton's head druing the Monica scandal.

The part were I agreed with him on is that there are much more important things going on in the world such as Dafur, the Sudan, Afganistan and Iraq. These things are never discussed in the halls of Congress the way they should be and the media uses these scandals to divert the attention from the larger horrors.

But that is also were I stop agreeing with his motive in the commentary and want to reach through the tube and choke the little bastard. He is as Neo Conservative as they come and it is the party he supports and I am sure voted for that are controling Congress and the media.

So let be know that this is probably the only point I will ever agree with Ben Stein on:
The Foley story is a big story, but in the interest of pursuing a sex scandal we are ignoring matters of life and death for the whole planet. Countries that don't know what is life threatening and what is not do not last. I am sorry to say, that's us.

2. where was this speech when the NeoCons were gunning for Clinton?
Over consensual sex?

F*ck Ben Stein and his ilk. Make them deal with the same sort of happy horse-puckey they put the Dems through over NOTHING.

Foley is a child PREDATOR. It *is* a big deal.

3. Notice how neocons always raise the stakes to the survival of civilization
I've seen this rhetorical technique used dozens of times. They always pit their opponents' agendas against the survival of the country. The country is going to survive, no matter what we do with this one little scandal. We will not be so distracted by one pervert that we forget to water the garden, walk the dog, or put criminals behind bars.

What's the deal with these morons? Do they really think the country is that fragile? Do they really think the world is chomping at the bit to destroy us? Megalomania plus paranoia creates interesting apocolyptic delusions, but it doesn't help you craft a sensible foreign policy.

5. They only play this line when it is one of their own who is being exposed
If it were a Democrat who had perpetrated the crime Foley appears to be guilty of they would have already burned them at the stake and gone hunting for more witches.

6. I don't think they want to destroy us, they just wish we were smarter
and that we would vote and that we would pay attention. It is amazing to travel to another country and everyone knows what is going on. The debates are heated, the rally's insane. and then you come back to America and they say don't worry your pretty little head.

4. If Stein had written a remotely similar column in spring of '98,
he'd actually have a leg to stand on.

7. Is Foley a big deal.
The question is, is it just a sex scandal or closer to a coverup of a criminal scandal.

I can take him as the Head Pixie and Sanderson. As anything else ... not so much.

9. Ben Stein is a hypocrite. As I tell my "Republican" friends, you
screamed about a man and a woman passed the age of consent, having consensual sex, but your party leaders like Newt and Delay have been giving cover for pedophiles for 11 years.
