Will the Bush coincidence do the Yankees in today?
Edited on Sat Oct-07-06 03:57 PM by liberaldemocrat7
The New York Yankees won 4 world series titles in 1996, 1998,1999, and 2000.

They won these 4 while Bill Clinton served as president.

Ever since the Chimpenfuhrer took office the Yankees have not won a single world series in 6 years.

Now the Yankees play tonight. I hope they go on to win everything. It appears a coincidence that while Bush occupies the White House the Yankees have not won the world championship.

Go Yankees !

2. And I never thought this particular cloud could have a silver lining
But Yankees sucking out in the first round, as sweet as it is, does not quite make up for the last 6 years.

:-)

5. One Thing To Remember Re: Yankees & $$$$$$$$
They are WAAAAYYYY OVER the salary cap, so in addition to all the large salaries, they pay a great deal of Luxury Tax.

They obviously do well with season ticket sales, and advertising deals, media, etc., but there is an important point to remember. THEY ARE MADE FOR THE POST SEASON. THEY DEPEND UPON THE POST SEASON FOR REVENUE.

By losing today, they would end up with 2 Post Season Games. Not even a benefit for having a better regular season record, and getting the 5th game in this round.

The ticket prices they charge in the post-season are HIGH, with those in the World Series games through the roof. It is safe to say, that by losing in this manner, would be close to the worst possible scenario in terms of profit/loss, that could have been imagined back in April. They needed more games to turn a profit, with all the overhead they've taken on, which is geared towards making it farther than Game 4 of Round 1.
