OK, let’s try this again…(revelations in Woodward's book)--a kind of poll
From DU:

9/11 widows blast Bush Administration over Rice, Tenet meeting

Many of us here on DU already knew about these warnings, threats, and assessments. We’ve known about them FOR YEARS, yet these “revelations” are treated as something new in the Corporate Media, who appear to be reporting on them out of necessity due to the release of Bob Woodward’s book.

So, let’s take a kind of poll. Prior to the release of Bob Woodward’s book, how many of you already knew about these intel revelations?

Note: Some of these statements may be truncated due to space limitations. You can go to the link above for details...

Select as many as apply...

1) Warnings from leaders of other nations and foreign intelligence apparatus' of terrorist threats

2) June 30, 2001 SEIB entitled “bin Laden Threats Are Real”

3) The threat of President Bush's assassination at the G-8 Summit by al Qaeda in July of 2001 – using aircraft to dive bomb the summit building

4) July 2001 Phoenix memo, which told of potential terrorists taking flight lessons

5) 52 FAA warnings – five of which mentioned al Qaeda's training for hijacking

6) August 6, 2001 PDB “bin Laden Determined to Strike in US”

7) NIE entitled “Islamist Extremists Learn to Fly”

8) Intel agency heads describing “hair on fire” (imminent nature of the threats)

9) The arrest of Zacharias Moussaoui in August of 2001

10) FBI Agent Harry Samit's 70 unsuccessful attempts to get a FISA Warrant to examine Moussaoui's belongings

Democracy depends on a free press...

1. well let's see
Not read the book yet so I don't know about the depth of detail it gets into, but the bare bones of a lot of these I have known for a long time...

1) Warnings from leaders of other nations and foreign intelligence apparatus' of terrorist threats
Check...

2) June 30, 2001 SEIB entitled “bin Laden Threats Are Real”

Hmmm...similar stuff but not that specific one.. I read a NYT article in the summer of 2001 that talked about the escalated terror threat-I have tried to find that since but just cannot seem to find it.

3) The threat of President Bush's assassination at the G-8 Summit by al Qaeda in July of 2001 – using aircraft to dive bomb the summit building

No. That one, I have never heard before!

4) July 2001 Phoenix memo, which told of potential terrorists taking flight lessons
I think so.

5) 52 FAA warnings – five of which mentioned al Qaeda's training for hijacking
Check -but not the number (52).

6) August 6, 2001 PDB “bin Laden Determined to Strike in US”
LOL even the freepers have to know that one by now...

7) NIE entitled “Islamist Extremists Learn to Fly”
Check

8) Intel agency heads describing “hair on fire” (imminent nature of the threats)
Check

9) The arrest of Zacharias Moussaoui in August of 2001
Not sure...rings a bell...

10) FBI Agent Harry Samit's 70 unsuccessful attempts to get a FISA Warrant to examine Moussaoui's belongings
I didn't know it was 70 but check. Also how Frasca was PROMOTED after this.

4. 3, 6, 8, & 9 for sure
Some of the others are ringing bells, and I'm pretty sure I could find them without reading Woodward's book.

5. Clean sweep.
That admittedly the specifics not necessarily identical - "dozens" of FAA warnings, "many" (70!?) unsuccessful attempts, I knew about. In general, I hit on every one.

I have no life. I spend way too much time on the internets.

7. 1, 3, 6 for certain...4, 5, 7 sound very familiar...
#1--wasn't Israeli and French intelligence agencies warning us? I thought this was revealed in "Forbidden Truth"

#3--wasn't this why Bush stayed on a US destroyer anchored in the harbor?

#6--this received some play in the media, but Condi was able to shrug it off as "historical information."

#4, 5, 7--I remember reading about the hijackers taking flying lessons, but don't know if it was in reference to these specific warnings.

Not sure about the rest. The thing to remember is DU kept us up-to-date and informed during a time of lies and distortion by the Bushistas and the media...

10. Senior Executive Intelligence Brief is a watered down version of PDB,
distributed on a wider basis

the June 30 SEIB said this, according to the Washington Post story linked here that dealt with the Rice/Tenet meeting ten days later:

''On June 30, a top-secret senior executive intelligence brief contained an article headlined 'Bin Laden Threats Are Real.' ''

this, apparently, was the precursor to the much more detailed meeting Tenet/Black held with Condi
