Mark Foley's IM Log of Conversation with Former Page (ABC News)
Don't know if anyone's posted this before. I just found it.

I can't image this former page will come forward anytime soon, considering the content of his IMs. :(

2. Not saying...
...the page "should" be ashamed of himself. Not at all. But I'm saying he probably will be.

7. Content
I don't understand the OP's comment. I read a lot of nervous, embarassed LOL responses by a kid, with the conversation being suggestively led by a perv in a position of power.

Thinking back to when I was that age, I feel the discomfort just reading it. :scared:

8. You don't think...?
...that a teenager, discussing in detail how he masturbates with an older man, now for everyone to read in America, wouldn't be a little embarrased and not wish to show his face and reveal to the world that "Oh yeah, that was me talking about masturbating face down into a towel"?

11. Quite honestly? the one who should be ashamed here is Foley
not the MINOR child with whom Foley engaged this conversation.

14. Yeah but...
Whether the kid "should be" ashamed or not, he will be.

He's only in high school for shit's sake.

17. That's true, BUT
anyone who has worked with sexually abused children - or with teenagers of any sort - can tell you it is very common for them to feel responsible for what happens to them. They DO feel shame and/or embarrassment, even though there is no good reason for them to feel that way.

The list of things that can make a teen want to die of embarrassment is long, indeed. Mostly minor things to an adult, but crises to them. When something really hairy happens, they frequently aren't yet emotionally equipped to sort out who's at fault. And, truly, how can we expect them to be? How many adults feel shame or embarrassment when they are assaulted? It's sad and sorry and wrong, but it's also a very common reaction. It's often a huge hurdle when trying to bring rape cases to trial.

12. Point taken
Given the passage of time, increased maturity, and the qualities needed to become a page in the first place, I would think the embarassment factor would decrease enough for him to come forward. IMHO

13. Given time...
I mean, I'm 32. I can fully admit to the world things about sex, masturbation, fetishes, etc. without thinking twice.

But I couldn't have in high school!

10. Interesting is not the right word...
...I actually had to stop that video.

When you actually hear a young person's voice put to the words, it sinks in a lot more than just reading the text on the screen.

I can't wait until someone posts a nice picture of Foley in handcuffs!

16. I didn't even read the im's...too early in the morning,
but i need someone to explain to me why rich people get rushed away to hide out in "REHAB", when a common joe (like me) would have to stay and face the music. i realize they're hiding from the press, but does that mean law enforcement can't get at 'em?
