I'm tired of taking the high road!
You???

I could give a shit what we call these corrupt, indecent, despicable people (for want of a better word).

I don't even care if we are bending the truth a little.

I will use whatever tool at my disposal to bring these fuckers down!

Anyone else in???

2. I'm in! Taking the high road cost us last time & it'll happen again unless
we smarten up and take the offensive. Good gawd, we're in the midst of the most corrupt regime in US history, and you'd think our Democratic spokespeople were content or something, the way they sit back hoping Republicans will lose on their own.

5. "Bend the truth?"
You would lie to acheive your goals? That is a step down a very dangerous road, one that I care not to tread. Especially since the truth is on our side. But even if it weren't I would not lie, because even if I loose everything else, I still have my honesty.

10. Quite a dilemma...
The 'goals' here are not personal, though. I think a lie told as a step to remove an unsavory government could be a good lie. Where do you draw the line? Good question. It is a slippery slope.

On one hand, it is a 'fast track' to uprighting the ship of government, and something for which you are already being accused. On the other, if it is exposed, you only confirm that you are no better than your opponent, if only in the eyes of those who don't see the big picture.

It will be impossible to beat them at their own game if we refuse to play it.
It is possible to redefine the game, but not if our only tool is the 'high road.'

The reality that makes this any kind of decision at all is that our culture has made lying acceptable. In recent memory, a veritable legion of politicians have lied to us, unabashedly, boldly, even mockingly, with almost zero backlash. There don't seem to be any repercussions.

Personally, I can't rationalize it. It has been ingrained in me to tell the truth.

Everyone has to deal with their own conscience.

But it's effective and there's no way in hell we should let up. Politics is all about creating your own truth and your own reality, and it's time for us to break out of imprisonment in the Republican paradigm.

64. This is an old argument...
If you think there's no difference between attraction to a 16-year-old and attraction to an 8-year-old, well, more power to you, but 16 is not a "child" in the sense that someone that age is past puberty and sexually aware. The psychological nature of someone attracted to 8-year-olds is very different from someone attracted to 16-year-olds, and the former group has much more potential to scar kids for life. But as I've said before, we should call Foley a pedophile at every opportunity because the word is public relations napalm and he's given us the perfect opportunity to use it.

29. My God,
The original thread seemed a bit silly to me, with the rationalization of lying to achieve ones goals and all. I don't buy into the idea that if they lie we should lie justification,.. it strikes me as a huge step down. I expected to get a response from the originator of the thread, I was curious if it was just a rant or... if he/she really believes that abandoning the values that makes somebody who they are is worth winning. I do not, I don't believe that in order to achieve a goal you have to "mimic" the very thing you oppose. Why even have values?

I am surprised that you responded to me, however I guess I'm not surprised at HOW you responded. It's plain to see that you spend a significant amount of time playing with photo shop and such, because I see your graphics similar to the ones I see now,.. all the time, I find your response to be vulgar, and disturbing.

You and I do not have the same core values, or beliefs, ......proven by not only your moral flexibility, (or if this is easier to understand, "the end justifies the means" ) mentality, but also your desire to be as absolutely offensive as possible. I don't want to know any more about what you than you have already declared. I DO NOT find you funny, nor representative of the party I support.

I have the complete series, and a few of the movies and adore every one of them. I have NEVER been offended by Monty Python, Benny Hill or any other comedian that skates an edge.

Read "Swampy's" thoughts again and tell me how amused you are, I can't compare "Swampy" to Monty Python.

Coming in as raging, angry pit bulls is not going to help us solve tough problems like reconfiguring the healthcare system, extricating from Iraq, global warming.

Unlike the right wing, we don't move in lockstep. There will be disagreements among ourselves about these, best solved by rational discussion and study.

Liberals are tolerant and reasonable people.

With one exception: pit-bulls are invited to the election night party if it's another stolen election. Grrrr...

for what? If it was just Democrats vs. Republicans, then I'd be all for debating our ethics, but given PNAC, our empire, the lack of an energy policy, then we need to win, and do something to turn this mess around before this country is down the tubes.

Jeff Gannon regulary visited Republic leaders in both the House & Senate for $100/hour sessions that involved male-on-male group sex and sado-masochistic activities. The list is extensive and includes most of the Republic leadership in Congress, and several other members not in the leadership.

50. Tired of the high road, too
Am I tired of the high road? Yes.

Warning:

Like the Founding Fathers towards King George II, I'm now officially an enemy combatant. They can take my life, but freedom will return to America. We're clearly entering the Oliver Cromwell Era of American history. Bush is our Cromwell. I doubt very seriously he's going to be leaving office at the moment he's supposed to; by then we will be deeply entrenched in a war in Iran and Syria, the media will be steadily chanting the name of FDR, right wing will be steadily drumming "repeal the Amendment", and Bush, because we're at war, "against terror", will remain in office for a third term.

Watch and see.

This, I believe, will be the event that topples America into violent revolution. I just hope we don't become Communist at the end of it. I'm Socialist and hoping for Democratic Socialism, a little like Canada. And I hope every child knows the Constitution by heart at the end of it. Ladies and gentlemen of good liberal conscience, arm yourselves legally and begin practicing at Democrat-owned gun ranches as soon as you can. This would also be a good time to start writing and sharing songs of revolution amongst each other. I recommend Quaker churches for your meetings.

We are liberals. We have human souls and consciences, and there is no doubt we deeply wish to be good and do the right thing where our enemies, and the enemies of liberty, are concerned. We must remember, however, everyone, that good is passive, the way bad is passive. They're just positions we take. When bad becomes aggressive, it is termed EVILDOING. When good becomes aggressive, the word for that is RIGHTEOUSNESS.

We on the center and left need to join together and start enforcing righteousness. A picture of righteousness is St. Michael holding a sword, Ripley from "Aliens" cradling Newt (the little girl) and a gun, and saying to the alien queen "Get away from her, you bitch." or a Jedi Knight armed with a lightsaber. Jedis have lightsabers for a reason. We need to contemplate that reason today in America. The Founding Fathers didn't drive back the British using harsh language, and as Democrats, Greens, Libertarians and Socialists we'd better give that one sentence some good hard thought starting right now.

Am I telling my fellow Americans to be prepared to use violence? I'll answer the same way I'll answer Bush's jackbooted authorities, if they ever have occasion to ask me: "You damn right." I love this country, and I will die for America if my life furthers the cause of saving my lady liberty from this siege, and in any way brings Constitutional integrity back to our shores. Die in an instant. That's my position. I'm done with the high road, and there you have it.

PS, a good liberal revolutionary song to try, to get your blood stirring, is actually "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. Google the lyrics. You'll remember them. See if it doesn't rouse you to take some form of action!

53. I don't think we will have to get dirty on this one.
there are laws against attempting to lure minors into sexual
liaisons.

let the system runs it's course.

and the political damage is increasing every day.

so, what's the old saying? "what's the smart play when your
enemy is destroying itself? you stand there and watch."

58. come from every corner of this sick world-
including you and me. If you are painfully honest, you'll realize you have the potential to be every bit as bad as the 'worst of the worst'- it IS your choice-

the thing about the Dems I've always felt pretty fond of, is that we don't pretend to be something we are NOT- which is "perfect"- nor do we manipulate, lie, cheat and steal, and then justify it by saying: "yeah, but look at how bad THEY are- or "the devil made me do it"

Maybe there is no political party that is worth shit-

People who advocate doing crap to win, will do crap when-ever it suits them-

this thread is a sad testimony- maybe an ugly truth i've just been unwilling to face-

:nuke:

screw politics- humanity is the worst scourge on this planet from what i'm witnessing-

59. I often think the only thing that can save the planet is a pandemic that

wipes out 75 perecent of the population. On edit -- in no way am I rooting for one but pragmatically, what our race is doing to the planet cannot be undone in a timely fashion any other way.

67. No need to bend the truth.
Just shove the truth in their faces. That's enough.

The party of chickenhawk chickenhawks.
