I explained I live in TN, but wanted to express my support. What was surprising was the reaction I got when I told them I was a veteran. The woman asked if I would send an email to Jessica Vandenberg. I don't know who she is, but I wrote a quick email. It's not great, but here it is:
After calling I was asked to write an email in support of Mr. Webb. I live in Kingsport, TN, but I still wanted to express how I feel in regards to women in combat and in the military.
Every male in my family has served in the military. I was and still the only woman in my family ever to put on a uniform. In 1986 I signed up and trained to be a medic (91A at the time). The training was tough, but the women I was with were tougher. I was sent to Schwabisch Hall, Germany where I was stationed for two years. While it was a small clinic, we approached our training as we would a combat situation. I was active duty for four years and after that served as a flight medic in a unit for the air guard in Montana.
My entire military experience shaped me to the person I am today. I loved serving my country and would do so again if asked.
Mr. Webb is a military man who understands what it means to every man and woman who puts on a uniform. As a woman veteran, I completely support Mr. Webb. His career speaks for his love of the military.
Jim Webb is a military man with a good heart.
Thank You
