Kennedy To Lieberman: STFU!
"You know," Lieberman added, "I come from the Truman/J.F. Kennedy wing of the Democratic Party. We're socially progressive at home and we're strong in foreign and defense policy and, frankly, I don't think until the Democratic Party gets back to that balance that we're going to elect a president again."

.................

If Lieberman believes that the invasion of Iraq was in keeping with the muscular foreign policy of Truman and JFK, Kennedy said, "He doesn't have it right."

Kennedy, who voted against the Iraq war resolution, said the Bush administration misled Congress and the public into supporting the war, while his brother used solid intelligence to justify a blockade of Cuba to force the removal of Soviet missiles.

"President Kennedy would have been very careful with the facts. He would have been very careful not to sign on for distortions, misrepresentations and manipulation of intelligence," Kennedy said. "That wasn't the Cuban missile crisis. So Joe Lieberman is wrong on this, as he is on the war in Iraq."

Democrat. He does not deserve any Democratic positions.

4. Thankyou Ted.
Lieberman has been dogging the senators from Massachusetts for the past two months - and every time he does, they hit him back while supporting Lamont. The way EVERY good Democrat should.

13. Vote for the Democrat
As a Democrat, as an American, as a Jew, I'm proud that my Senator Kennedy slapped down Lieberman. It will be a real shame if this lying, self-important prig is re-elected.

C'mon, Connecticut, do the right thing!

8. Why is Ted letting Joe pretend he's a Democrat? He's a quitter.
Good for Ted for calling him out on the JFK line, but Ted's response doesn't say anything about Holy Joe quitting the party, it reinforces the image Joe's spinning that he's still a loyal Democrat.

It has been very difficult to impress this on Senator Lieberman for tha last five years, but it's worth mentioning again:

Mr. Bush's foreign and defense policy is a failure and support for it is not a sign of strength.

Am I getting through to you, Senator Lieberman?

16. Okay. Let's not be in such a hurry to run Joe out of the party.
If the Senate election results are 49 Republican, 49 Democrat, plus 2 Independent as is being projected by some polls now, we know we can count on Bernie Sanders of Vermont to caucus with the Democrats. That leaves Lieberman as the balance of power.

If he stays with the Democrats we will have control of the Senate. But if we push him away and tell him he is no longer welcome, he will caucus with the Republicans. In that case they will retain control of the Senate because Cheney breaks any ties in his constitutional role as President of the Senate.

I am not thrilled with Lieberman, but I am willing to forgive his run as an independent if it helps us gain control of the Senate. Practical politics.

I hope you're more right than I am, and that he's able to help us with some substantive issues... but seriously... what's affected us more in the recent past than that stupid war of choice? And that $#&*@($&#@ is STILL supporting it... defending it...

Kennedy discusses with McNamara, McGeorge Bundy and General Taylor the plan to bring the first 1000 troops home before the end of 1963:

42. Lieberman doesn't understand basics for a strong national security policy.
1) make more friends than enemies
2) sound intelligence/decision making
3) maintain the moral high ground

His latest vote for the torture bill, as well as his support for the administrations policies, demonstrates a mentality that is very dangerous to both the short-term and long term interests of the United States of America in the arena of national security.
