I think society allows conduct leading to Foley's
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 10:49 PM by RGBolen
Today at the grocery store check-out line the woman in front of me turned after paying for her groceries looks at me, smiles and gives a somewhat suggestive "hello." I just said "what are you looking at," and the clerk butts in saying "hey you aren't going to talk like that in here."

Amazing, I was waiting for her to tell me that if someone wants to ogle people and make suggestive remarks that I should just "shut up and take it."

Granted I'm not underage but human beings of any age should not be treated like that.

1. Agreed!
And it had gone on too long, and frankly it's good to condemn it.
Being Ogled IS threatening aggressive, and often well mean.

People need to reinforce healthy social boundaries, really respect each other and each others sacred person hood, because abuse it hurts people, taking advantage hurts, intimidation hurts, verbal abuse isn't"funny".. and we got to stop this crap and and become intolerant of it around us..and stand up and speak out..,if enough people GET IT that that type of behavior its wrong and hurts people the only ones who will still be doing it will be the ones that do not care whom they hurt. And these callous ass-wipes deserve to feel the rage and social rejection for their lack of respect of another persons human dignity. We have shifted our boundaries and let the assholes dictate our social interaction patterns too long.

4. Welcome to what women have put up with since time began
All you got was a suggestive "Hello?" Geez, no whistles and "Hey Baby, nice ass!" thrown out at you? Maybe I should say welcome to a very tiny glimpse of our world.

I think you were unnecessarily harsh in your response if all the woman said was "Hello" whether it was perceived to be suggestively said or not. A simple "Hello" is NOTHING compared to what women have had to endure for what society thinks passes for a simple mating ritual from men since the beginning of time.

Well, now you know how it feels... and she didn't even try to grab-ass you, insist how good she is at performing oral sex and declare you were coming home with her - ALL things us women have had to put up with all the time and get called a "bitch" when we tell them to bugger off.

8. Apples and oranges. Some lady smiled at you. What the hell is
the big deal. You don't have to reciprocate. Maybe she was being nice.

Contrary to your delusions, this has nothing to do with sexual predators in positions of power taking advantage of teenagers.

Are you an underage minor? Did she fondle you? Harass you? Stalk you? Call you on the phone? Camp out in your hedgerow? Do anything beyond give you a "somewhat suggestive Hello?"

Most importantly, is this thread for real?

Should I have been thankful that she chose to look me up an down and speak suggestively? Maybe I taught her a lesson and next time she thinks it's a good idea to open her filthy mouth and treat someone like that she won't.

42. I look people up and down all the time. I think we all do
Edited on Thu Oct-05-06 09:46 PM by notadmblnd
Sometimes I even hold my head up, look them in the eye and say hello. Occasionally, when I've looked at someone who's been especially appealing to me, I've even been known to do a double take or smile.

If she was hooting and cat calling, touching you or pursuing you out the door, well, that's one thing. But if she just said hello and flirted with you a little and you deemed her filthy, repulsive or beneath you, well, thats another, and I think it says more about you than her.

was it the way she said it? Did she look at you in a way that made you think that she thought maybe you had just landed on the planet? Was she repulsive? I'm just wondering cause saying "what are you looking at" when someone says hello isn't exactly polite. There are more polite ways to fend off unwanted advances.
