1. It's every man for himself at this point
they are all busy shredding evidence and burying bodies.

3. Of course they will
but this has had to have had a serious impact on their plans.

They wanted to control the topic through this month, they set up the dems in the last week before recess so they could harp on their votes on torture for the whole month. This is a major roadblock now and Rove does NOT LIKE to be out of control of the topic. He is out of control and i am just waiting to see wait he will do to try and regain it.

In fact the longer this goes on and the closer we get to november, i worry that he'll have to something more dramatic. Time is running out, and this is a major unseen obstacle for them. My hope is that they are so used to controlling the message that they will be caught off guard enough to not be able to respond quickly enough, which has certainly been the case thus far.

5. Foley IS the distraction.
Small matter of Rice being proven a liar about what she knew pre-9/11. That whole mess fell away nice and quietly.

6. Grand Dragon George Allen is probably ready to buy Foley a Ferrari...
He's the best thing to happen to Allen since "white" and "colored" bathrooms.

7. Foley IS the distraction
Why would Republicans, who have apparently been keeping Foley's little secret under wraps for 2 years, reveal this information now, and possibly let a dozen republicans be implicated? Why would they do this just before an election, particularly when the scandal could conceivably cost them control of both houses?

Well, look at the timing. Who's talking about the Detainee Act and it's VERY lax definition of 'Enemy Combatant' or it's revocation of the right of habeus corpus? No one.

So, while we're all screaming about Foley and the investigations get underway, BushCo is free to quietly persue their agenda, out of the glaring spotlight.

After all, when you can tag anyone with the label 'Enemy Combatant' and spirit them away to a torture facility, never charging them or even letting anyone know where they are...do you really NEED a Congress?

8. The gop will distract us with the number of deaths in Iraq so far
this month. Take the pressure off the molesters in congress.
