They would have had a better chance of controlling this mess and gained time to let the scandal die down. If they only listen to fauxnews, they could well think that they may be able to still pull an election bunny out of the hat. However, even Richard Viguerie is telling his people to step back from the GOP. Denny's going to have a stroke if he hears that.

Actually tossing Foley would have been the smarter thing to do. Perhaps they know that this problem goes much deeper, and they couldn't risk exposure.
