PBS Newshour - WaPo blog shutdown

WaPo blog manager looking for "basic rules of decency".

'It disintegrated into name-calling and profanity.' - Funny, but the posts I read, which were admittedly captured by Skinner after WaPo had sifted out the supposedly bad ones, were quite good, and not profane.

WaPo is going to use tech profanity filter.

2. It's mostly just them justifying what they did
by saing they were innundated with profanity and personal attacks on Howell. No mention of removing even the good posts.

They have another blogger on - "BoingBoing"? - talking about the difficulties in running a blog.

WaPo wants to expand their blogging, but this incident has led them to realize they have to get their tech, ie filters, up to the task first.

They really don't like the heat, but at least this blog mgr is taking some of the blame, if not for removing comments then for not having the tech to remove comments.
