3. I had the accident policy at a previous job.
I severely sprained my ankle and needed a brace and 6 weeks of physical therapy. They paid the part that my medical didn't pay, and I got a nice check for injuring a "covered" limb. You also get a little check every year if you have regular medical checkups, like an eye dr, routine gyn visits, etc.

I had no issues with them and would still have them if I had not change companies.

4. I've heard good and bad but from a professional standpoint..
I hate them. They come into our office about every other month with a new sales rep and without an appointment. I let them in and then tell them how much I dislike drop-in solicitations. Everytime they argue and I ask them to leave.

6. They paid mine
But it took friggin' FOREVER!

It sounds too good to be true because the erect so many barriers in front of claimants that many probably give up. It's not worth it for a minor injury, but if you land in the hospital with broken bones and are willing to spend several hours and many FAXes jumping through hoops, then you can get a pretty tidy pay-out.

If you don't have that kind of patience (and it nearly killed mine) save yourself the $23/month (well, that's what it was for me anyway) and put it in a high yield something. It'll probably amount to the same thing and if you're never in a accident you haven't "lost" the money.

7. My duaghter in law sells it
and speaks very highly of the company in terms of responsiveness etc. She's an independent agent and represents a number of insurers and she's quite honest about which ones are good and which ones suck. Why do I know this? She was watching TV with us over the weekend when one of their duck ads came on. When I commented on the ad she told me the company was excellent even if the ad wasn't.

9. Depends on how old you are... If you are younger go with AIG..
They are cheaper. As you age AFLAC becomes cheaper. Accident and cancer one are good one's to get. These 2 could have major financial implications if it occurs. Also, what company pays you $75.oo to get a pap smear. Awesome.. almost worth the trip.
