Condi V Woodward -- Condi must have "deniability" for Admin to be so
agressive re. Intel meeting.

Probably was no formal meeting on the books.

Tenet and Black report getting the "brush-off" from Rice when they requested
"urgent meeting" on pending Al Qaeda attack. Maybe no meeting took place that was put in NSC White House logs so she thinks she can deny the conversation.

Suspect that is what will come out.

1. I hope it will be more than he said/she said
even if Woodward has Tenet on tape saying he requested the meeting, it's still his word against the Golden Girl, Condi Rice.

unless Tenet produces an actual memo and/or email with a clear date/time on it, then it's likely to die.

3. Actually, they are NOT denying the meeting took place
this is what Bartlett, counselor to bush said:

“It really didn’t match Secretary Rice’s recollection of the meeting at all,” said Dan Bartlett, counselor to President Bush, in an interview on the CBS News program “Face the Nation.”

They are admitting the meeting took place, they are using the "can't remember" defense for the content.
