123. George Clooney quotes
"We moved away from what we were going after which was the al-Qaeda and there's no connection between al-Qaeda and Iraq, which we know, we spent a lot of time trying to prove it and it didn't happen. And we're going to go into a war and we're going to kill a lot of innocent people."

"What did Bush do on 9/11? He ran away and hid. Even Reagan knew more about leadership than that, and he was as bad a symbol of America as I can think of, off-hand. But at least he's been in enough cowboy movies to know he had to come out and stand on top of the rubble and be seen shaking his fist or something."

They tell us we're going to war and no one's saying 'Bullshit' loud enough. And the language! Listen to the language! 'Evil.' 'Evil'? 'Nexus of evil'? 'Evil-doer'? That's my favourite, 'evil-doer'! What's wrong with their vocabulary: couldn't they come up with 'schmuck'?"

"The problem is we elected a manager, and we need a leader," Clooney tells the magazine. "Let's face it: Bush is just dim."

What’s the Deal With Sibel Edmonds?
Feds, Supreme Court silence an FBI translator who knew too much
by James Ridgeway
November 29th, 2005 3:37 PM
Village Voice

WASHINGTON, D.C.--The latest rebuke to Sibel Edmonds, the former FBI translator who has been trying unsuccessfully to make public what she knows about the FBI’s 9-11-related operations, comes from the Supreme Court.

It has declined to hear her court case, thereby letting stand decisions of the lower courts that enforce a silence imposed upon her by the federal government.

The ACLU represented Edmonds. “Sibel Edmonds is a true patriot who deserved her day in court," said ACLU Associate Legal Director Ann Beeson, in an official statement. "We are disappointed that the Supreme Court did not see the ongoing danger of allowing the FBI to hide its blunders behind the 'states secrets' privilege."

Even though its own inspector general has found much of what Edmonds has to say to be correct, the Justice Department--first under Attorney General Ashcroft and now under Attorney General Gonzalez--have invoked the arcane States Secrets law to shut her up. The department simply declared everything in her case secret, in the interest of national security.

Even though she's not an "elected official" she deserves it just as much as any elected official out there or more.

Other "good guys" perhaps not mentioned here:

Donna Frye - fought the good fight to get more "people" representation here in San Diego, even if she lost the mayoral race.
Peter Coyote - works a lot on getting good progressive documentaries out there.
Bernie Ward - fights the good fight for us on KGO...
Chris Deliso and Scott Horton - working hard to uncover the conspiracies as indy journalists!
Robert Greenwald - a lot of great documentaries to give us the truth about things like Fox News and Wal-Mart!
Naomi Klein - Also helping with a lot of great documentaries (The Take, The Corporation) and other indy journalism
Janeane Garafalo and Sam Sedar - Have the right spirit and carry on the good fight even though they don't need to do so for a living.
Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon - Great activist hollywood couple!
Bill Moyers - still one of the old school journalists that's doing his darndest to preserve decent journalism and equality for all of us!
Paul Rieckhoff - OperationTruth.org founder has helped a lot with getting the right message out on the war, and filling in for Mike Malloy too.
Scott Ritter - my old classmate and a great whistleblower on weapons inspections!

in the same DOD school in Turkey. He was a couple of years behind me and hadn't entered middle school yet, and I think I left there when he did. Kind of like me behing behind Mitch Pileggi (played Skinner of the X-Files) by a few years who was also a student there so I didn't get to know him that closely either, though we were both there too at the same time.

Thanks, sfexpat and to Omega Minimo for help with George Gallaway's name! I feel like a :dunce: for not remembering. He even spoke at the Sept 24 ralley in DC :grouphug:

Yes, the CBC have been our most faithful, strongest voices in Congress, with Congressman Conyers at the helm (not in title but in deed).

Oh dear, that made me remember a wonderful new-comer to Congress who has displayed some big-ones herself, Congresswoman Wasserman-Schultz.

Theres lots of them that show courage. They need to make it a habit instead of a once in a while thing. We need to stop worrying about what the RWNM is saying and barrage them with voices . Make it impossible for them to zero into any one person. And might I add we need to protect our people with courage also.

134. how about Joseph Darby?

Darby is the military policeman who first turned over the Abu Ghraib photos to Army CID investigators.

His name is all but forgotten nowadays. I suspect he's in the Army's version of witness protection.
