"No Child Left Behind" was to provide recruits for the military
thus reported CNN earlier this evening. That means that recruiters can enter the schools, no questions asked, can get the home phone numbers of kids and... as was the main point of the story, molest and rape impressionable kids.

And if that is not sickening, I don't know what does.

7. Yeah, Opt Out , BUT
if they turn 18 years old while still in HS, all bets are off. Happened to my daughter in her Senior year, and they don't stop calling. They will not take NO for an answer, even if an 18 year old HS student herself tell them NO, multiple times.

My daughter had to threaten the recruiter with calling the police for harassment before he would stop calling. Incidentally, this was FOUR YEARS ago. It must be even worse now.

12. That's horrible
One more mark against this program that, together with the Medicare prescription program and the tax giveaway for millionaires need to be scrapped once the Democrats take over..

3. Presumably, it was also meant to ensure...
...the creation of a large stock of poorly-educated kids who'd have no choice but to join the military.

5. The way that young woman and her mom were crying
the way the recruiter was crying yes. That young woman, she was a girl of 16, was impressed with the attention the mature soldier with his uniforms gave her.

(I cannot find the CNN link for that story, unfortunately).

14. Too many Opt Outs
I heard that the military was complaining that there were too many Opt Outs in several school districts in our area. They even went so far as to start an investigation. I believe the percentage was somewhere in the 95% range.

It comes down to very knowledgeable parents and school districts complying with parent wishes. I know in the district that my daughter graduated from it is routine nowadays. Every student receives the information letter and Opt Out form at the beginning of the school year along with their new class schedules.

As far as my own daughter's experience, it was so bad (almost every night for a couple of months) that she was terrified when the phone rang that it would be HIM. She was afraid that she would come home from school and find him waiting at the door for her. That is psychological ABUSE. Since she was 18, there was very little I could do except advise her. My husband was ready to beat the guy up. I told her don't be afraid, get ANGRY. Who the hell was he to do this to you? Stand up for your rights. Yes, finally she did and let him have it on the phone. He never called again after that.

Was this an isolated incidence? I doubt it from those few stores which have made the news. There must be thousands which haven't.

9. opt out forms will keep them away from your kids...
This year they didn't include one in the handbook like they did last year. I had to go to the school to fill one out.
