my brain just imploded, he's at it again (or still?) Radio address
I made the mistake of checking the whitehouse website and reading todays radio report. http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060930.html
Iraq is not the reason the terrorists are at war against us. Our troops were not in Iraq when terrorists first attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, or when terrorists blew up our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, or when they bombed the USS Cole, or when they killed nearly 3,000 people on September the 11th, 2001. Five years after the 9/11 attacks, some people in Washington still do not understand the nature of the enemy. The only way to protect our citizens at home is to go on the offense against the enemy across the world. When terrorists spend their days working to avoid capture, they are less able to plot, plan, and execute new attacks on our people. So we will remain on the offense until the terrorists are defeated and this fight is won.(more@link of course)

1. ROTFLMAO!!!
I tell ya, if only people (including more Americans than OBL killed on 911) weren't dead & dying, this shit would be too fucking hilarious!!!

To think even ONE American would be stupid enough to fall for this shit...hilarious!

And too fucking tragic.

5. I think this is the logic?
We were attacked (Cole and 9/11) by terrorists.
We used this as an excuse to attack Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with the Cole or 9/11.
Lots of people are really pissed about this, and are attacking us.
But this has nothing to do with the fact we attacked Iraq, who had nothing to do with Cole/9/11.
Even though they are there fighting us because we attacked there.
So we need to attack more places all over so the people who will resent us and try to attack back will be too busy running away to plan ways to attack us back for attacking them because someone else attacked us.

7. Oh, there's a different purpose here
The purpose is to divert attention to the 90' and blame terrorism on Clinton. That's the last thread the Republicans have to hang on to. If people start remembering terrorism started when Reagan let the Iranians know Republicans would play politics with it, he set off the chain reaction. This is all about convincing Americans terrorism started under Democrats and Democrats can't be trusted to keep us safe - and keep us away from recognizing that the same people screwing up now were screwing up since the 70's and have caused more war and hatred than any other group of humans since Hitler.

8. The Clenis is the problem, I see that too
Because the Clenis let the first WTC and the Cole happen, and didn't attack/invade Iraq then, 9/11 happened and left the Furher with no recourse but to attack/invade Iraq. Which, incidentally, did not piss anyone off or make anyone attack us or want to attack us, because now all those people who now want to hurt us are busy running and hiding and can't hurt us.

Got it. My brain imploded further, thanks.

3. Translation...
The only way I get to keep all these un-constitutional and illegal powers is to stay at war forever.
Thank you very much,
The decider.

6. completely insane
an amazing collection of misinformation. There must actually be people who fear a Taliban invasion in their little American villages and believe mr bush is protecting them.

9. Notice the enthymemes. It's really good rhetoric.
They don't say, "We have been successfully working to capture terrorists." They don't say, "Our offensive strategy is successful in fighting terrorism." Their argument presumes these things and invites the listener to share the presumption uncritically. No actual logical argument is attempted. No verifiable assertions are made.

The rhetoric is brilliant, like a poison-tipped dagger through the back of reason. Only bad people make "arguments" like this. It's a litmus test.

11. for the logical, dissect it this way too
What I am going to prove, my claim: (Iraq is not the reason the terrorists are at war against us.)

Truth, evidence: (Our troops were not in Iraq when terrorists first attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, or when terrorists blew up our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, or when they bombed the USS Cole, or when they killed nearly 3,000 people on September the 11th, 2001.)

Questionable statement, may be true due to "some" hedging, counter argument: (Five years after the 9/11 attacks, some people in Washington still do not understand the nature of the enemy.)

Conclusion: (The only way to protect our citizens at home is to go on the offense against the enemy across the world.)

Supported by more truths, evidence: (When terrorists spend their days working to avoid capture, they are less able to plot, plan, and execute new attacks on our people.)

Final conclusion: (So we will remain on the offense until the terrorists are defeated and this fight is won.)
