Stars At War

THE lines are being drawn in Hollywood over California's gubernatorial race. Many folks are upset over Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's anti-gay marriage stance and his insensitive racial comments among other things, but some major Democrats are still backing the Republican Governator. Party stalwarts Cheryl and Haim Saban are hosting a $100,000-a-head fund-raiser at their Beverly Park home tonight and Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, James Cameron, Mindy and Jon Peters and Jerry Zucker are all expected. Sean Penn and Michael Moore are said to be appalled that the money could have gone to Schwarzenegger's Democratic opponent, Phil Angelides.

1. I'm disgusted too...
Even in "liberal" Hollywood, a "who hangs out at my country club" mentality prevails. I guess that's why Sean Penn chooses to live in San Francisco instead.

2. Well, hooray for Sean Penn and Michael Moore!
And don't let the door hit you on the way out of the Democratic party to Spielberg, Katzenberg, et al.

3. I have to agree with marmar's comment about country clubs.
At the same time, these "Democrats" that are backing Arnie are the studio bosses. They might just be looking for some favors from "special interests" Arnold.

7. Maybe then, since Speilberg is almost as rich as Bill Gates, he might

be willing to provide all uninsured Californians with the health care plan that Arnold denied them with his veto. Actually, we should all write him at his Dreamworks studio and demand it because his friend Governor Good Guy, denied it to us.

6. Just a nagging question here.
If Sean Penn and Michael Moore are appalled, what's to stop them from hosting the same kind of event for Angelides?

If they want Angelides to win, those who can, have to get up off their asses to do what they can.
