2. Everytime you find a Church Organization....
...working politics, get the link and the address of the Church along with the article to so a source and turn those fuckers in to the IRS. If its a Church you know they are Tax Exempt and they are not allowed to be politcal under that status what so ever.

When you get one that needs submitted Post ALL the information here so we can cut and paste it and submit it to the IRS via our personnal email addresses.

I have had it with these assholes! Its time to do start making a big g-ddamn racket over this shit!

Charities, Churches and Politics

The ban on political campaign activity by charities and churches was created by Congress 52 years ago. The Internal Revenue Service administers the tax laws written by Congress and has enforcement authority over tax-exempt organizations. Here is some background information on the political campaign activity ban and the latest IRS enforcement statistics regarding its adminstration of this congressional ban.

4. Well, you're going to have to find something more damning. . .
than a field trip to a Congresscritter to receive a flag and get a picture of the kiddies next to a soon-to-be-accused molester.

Similar shots can be found across the political spectrum, with Congresscritters promoting or acknowledging a host of activities by various religious bodies. I don't see where this church has even asked for anything other than what any citizen can request from their representative: a few minutes of their time and a flag that flew above the Capitol.

Here's some pictures of my Senator, Barbara Boxer, engaged in similar activities (and possibly more, as I couldn't see if any favors or money were requested in any of the official writeups). Are we to condemn a leading liberal for meeting with her constituents?

Meeting with representatives from the California Interfaith Power and Light to discuss this faith-based community's efforts to provide inexpensive power to poor people and to reduce global warming.

Meeting with the Catholic Church-based Mercy Housing to discuss its latest projects (2005).

Finally, a still from a promotional video Sen. Boxer did in her official capacity for one of the Catholic Church's parishes in San Diego, Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala. The mission is a national monument, registered with the government as a historical site and supported with government funds, but it is owned and operated by the Catholic Church.

My point: There's plenty of good reasons to get incensed at the illegal and intrusive involvement many churches engage in these days with our government. But we need to pick our fights, and getting apoplectic over a church outing to see the Capitol, visit with a representative, collect a flag and pay respects at Arlington is hardly an auspicious jumping off place.

5. A number of religious charities accept government money
to fund their charitable activities. Before Bush, the activities had to be nonsectarian. I assume that the churches that Boxer visited have not given her their exclusive or primary endorsement. There are churches that have given Republicans including Bush their total support. Boxer is one guest of many, including many Republicans, at those churches and religious groups I suspect. That is normal, and I would argue that it does not violate the church's 501(c)(3) non-profit tax status. Putting Bush's picture at the center top of your web page is very different from hosting a politician at an event if you host or at least welcome visits from other politicians at the same or other events.

6. I was wondering that when Rev Fallwell claimed earlier this week
that if Hillary is the candidate, he would have an easy time directing his conservative constituants to vote for the Republican.
What the does that have to do with any Church or religion?

Why does he think his church should be involved in the 2008 election?
Isn't he just another political action commitee at this point?

7. There is absolutely nothing wrong with mixing church and politics.
It is only church and state (government and its organs, including public schools) that must be separated. There is no way to forbid churches or other religious organizations from acting in politics.

Of course, the IRS may lift the church's tax-free status, but there is nothing in the constitution or in law to forbid connections between church and politics.

8. This is an Independent baptist church. meaning they have no oversight
iF THEY ARE 501 3c THEY WILL LOSE THEIR TAX-EXEMPT STATUS OVER THIS! they!!
If they do not have it, they can do anything they want to do. Not endorsing of this in the least....but if their denomiantion has no rules on this and they are not tax-expempt there is nothing that can be done about it.
