Is this AOL Search history Foley's?
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 12:48 AM by lvx35
So after I found out that Foley's IMs were done on AOL, and given the AOL leak of all those search records, I thought I'd give hunting him down a try. I found this:
http://data.aolsearchlogs.com/user/details/show.cgi?ANONID=3892266
This guy does numerous searches for "Congressional page" and also searches for "sweet 16", the age of the youth involved. More bizarrely, he searches for the illuminati, and the url "http://ecs.saton.ac.wk" which when changed to its obviously intended "http://ecs.saton.ac.uk" leads to a google hack, or backdoor into SPIE's member's only area. SPIE is a trade publication for people working in high level photo optics, whose biggest customer is apparently US Intell.

So what'ya think? Am I grasping at straws?

edit, to see the Google hack, google the url given:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=www.ecs.saton.ac.uk++&btnG=Google+Search

So can I place Foley thinking about New Orleans? You bet I can!

http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060929/NEWS/609290699 says:

"Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but seriously, this freaked me out," the former page wrote to congressional staffers in e-mails made public Thursday by ABC News.

In his e-mails to the boy, the 52-year-old Foley took a casual tone that one mental health expert said was inappropriate.

"I am in North Carolina," Foley wrote in one e-mail, "and it was 100 in New Orleans ...wow that's really hot...well do you miss DC...It's raining here but 68 degrees so who can argue...did you have fun at your conference...what do you want for your birthday coming up...what stuff do you like to do."

***

Edit: However, this article presents the exchange as going on in august of 2005, which seems wierd that it was sat on for more than a year...But if its right, it makes the dates suspect, because that search occured in March 2006, so maybe its not him. But fun stuff anyways ;)

24. Ah! I like a conspiracy now and then...
When I need to curl up by the fire with a good conspiracy, I read:
http://rigint.blogspot.com/
and
http://www.timboucher.com/journal/

Jeff Wells, the author of first, is an amazing writer IMHO.

13. This is why I have several usernames
At least it would slow people down trying to determine my entire online life.

I have thought about starting a company that provides an online identity obfuscation service. They would flood the internet with all sorts of online activity using your usernames, etc. and drown out the real stuff.

16. That's always a good idea.
Its also probably good to take the time to avoid unique ones...I used to try to get globally unique ones, so I could monitor myself and references to me, but that's how I end up with dumb handles like "lvx35". :(

Computers should be kept in a common room in the house, not in a child's bedroom, Telan said. Parents should discuss the dangers of the Internet with their children and supervise their use. Children should not have screen names that could identify their sex, age or residence, she said.

"If someone asks me for personal information, I would go to my mom or dad," said Michael Nisip, 10.
