For Octafish and others interested in BFEE terrorist Luis Posada Carriles
Here's an update:

Venezuela Asks UN to Compel U.S. to Extradite Terror Suspect

By Bill Varner

Sept. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuela asked the United Nations to compel the U.S. to extradite terrorism suspect Luis Posada Carriles to face charges that he planned the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro Moros used a Security Council meeting on terrorism to seek the extradition of Posada Carriles, who is in U.S. custody on unrelated immigration charges. President Hugo Chavez has threatened to cut diplomatic ties with the U.S. unless Posada Carriles, a Cuban-born citizen of Venezuela, is turned over to Venezuela to face trial.

``The only way to get rid of the scourge of terrorism is to combat it in a truthful manner, however it seems as though for Mr. Bush and the U.S. government that there are good terrorists and bad terrorists,'' Maduro said. He said the U.S. is guilty of ``hypocrisy and double standards'' in the war on terror.

Thanks for giving a damn, Gabi Hayes.

Never forget Orlando Bosch's role in firing a rocket into a Polish freighter and the downing of the Cubana jetliner. According to the author of the following, CIA said Bosch was involved in at least 30 terrorist acts. Of course, Poppy and his boys protect him to this very day.

New book reveals links of two presidents and the governor of Florida with exiled hardliners

Duncan Campbell in Los Angeles
Monday December 2, 2002
The Guardian

The brother of President George Bush, the Florida governor, Jeb Bush, has been instrumental in securing the release from prison of militant Cuban exiles convicted of terrorist offences, according to a new book. The Bush family has also accommodated the demands of Cuban exile hardliners in exchange for electoral and financial support, the book suggests.

Last year, after September 11, while the justice department announced a sweep of terrorist suspects, Cubans convicted of terrorist offences were being released from US jails with the consent of the Bush administration, according to the book, Cuba Confidential: Love and Vengeance in Miami and Havana, by Ann Louise Bardach, the award-winning investigative journalist who has covered Cuban and Miami politics for the New York Times and Vanity Fair.

The Bush family connections go back to 1984 when Jeb Bush began a close association with Camilo Padreda, a former intelligence officer with the Batista dictatorship overthrown by Fidel Castro.

Jeb Bush was then the chairman of the Dade county Republican party and Padreda its finance chairman. Padreda had earlier been indicted on a $500,000 (£320,000) embezzlement charge along with a fellow exile, Hernandez Cartaya, but the charges were dropped, reportedly after the CIA stated that Cartaya had worked for them.

SNIP...

In July this year, Jeb Bush nominated Raoul Cantero, the grandson of Batista, as a Florida supreme court judge despite his lack of experience. Mr Cantero had previously represented Bosch and acted as his spokesman, once describing Bosch on Miami radio as a "great Cuban patriot".

4. Oh yes and Kissinger was the man
They were very upset with the Caribbean because we were allowing Cubana flights to use our airports. The Cubans were on their way to Mozambique and Southern Africa to help in the anti-apartheid struggle. That was the warning for us - slaughter the children. Then they destabalized Jamaica between 76 - 80. Hundreds died including 140 old ladies in an old folks home. Philip Agree exposed the CIA men here in the middle of that chaos. Their hand picked Seaga won the election in 80 and by 83, he and the other pro-US leaders assited them in invading Grenada. Fidel aptly described Seaga as 'the leading choir boy of American imperialism in our region'.
Meanwhile the Central American and South American slaughters continued.

This shit has been doing on for decades and it hasn't stopped. Expect Guyana (with help from Bernie Kerik) to harrass Venezuela from the Northwest.

From Consortiumnews.com:

Kissinger's Bad Advice on Iraq

By Ivan Eland
October 3, 2006
Consortiumnews.com

Editor's Note: As the situation in Iraq steadily worsens, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has emerged as a White House adviser, urging George W. Bush to resist calls for withdrawing U.S. forces from Iraq. The question now is whether Kissinger is charting the same disastrous course for a prolonged war as he did in Vietnam.

In this guest essay, the Independent Institute's Ivan Eland examines whether Kissinger is the right man to have the President's ear at this dangerous moment:

The bellwether of the cautious establishment press, Bob Woodward, has finally unloaded both barrels on the Bush administration’s Iraq policy, in his new book, State of Denial.

The media hoopla surrounding the book has focused mainly on the administration’s deceptions surrounding the sorry state of affairs in Iraq and Andrew Card’s attempts, with the apparent blessing of Laura Bush, to get Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld fired. Neither of these facts is surprising.

The real surprise in Woodward’s book has received less attention:  The Bush administration’s main advisor during the war has been Henry Kissinger.

Kissinger, according to Woodward’s book, apparently has convinced the Bush White House that any troop withdrawals from Iraq will start a wave of public pressure to pull out all U.S. forces from Iraq. He is probably right in this analysis.

But Kissinger missed the main lesson of Vietnam and is now missing it in Iraq. As the U.S. generals in Iraq know, killing more Sunni insurgents and Shi’ite militiamen than the United States loses of its own troops will not win a war that is fundamentally political.

As Lieutenant General William Odom (Ret.), former Director of the National Security Agency and opponent of the war, has noted, the Iraq situation will continue to deteriorate and the United States will eventually be forced to withdraw from Iraq. So withdrawing sooner, rather than later, according to Odom, will save U.S. lives and money and salvage what international prestige the United States has left.

If Nixon and Kissinger had followed similar advice in Vietnam, the United States, its military, and its international standing would not have been tarnished by four additional years of war. And even worse than Vietnam, continued U.S. occupation of Iraq is fueling and worsening the Islamic terrorist threat to the United States, according to an estimate from Bush’s own intelligence agencies.

As LBJ tried to make peace with the North Vietnamese in 1968, Kissinger and his people in the Nixon and Rockefeller for GOP nominee campaigns approached the North Vietnamese government on behalf of President Thieu of the South and his people. They said the GOP would give them better terms after the election in 1968 and, so, kept the North and South from reaching a peace. Four years -- and maybe a million Asian lives and 30,000 American lives -- later, Kissinger and Nixon brokered pretty much the same peace accord with the North.

8. I like how the Venezuelans in particular--and all of South America--are
standing up for themselves, in so many ways. The leading presidential candidate in Ecuador, for instance--another leftist (majorityist)--recently stated his intention to get Ecuador out from under World Bank/IMF debt (and never get into it again), a feat that Argentina has now accomplished, with the help of Venezuela (and after a huge citizen rebellion). The World Bank/IMF is the chief means by which global corporate predators (often US-based) get their claws around the throats of the people, drain the country of revenue (sucking on all the social programs), loot the country's resources, dump cheap US big ag produce on local food markets to destroy local agriculture, and use the people for slave labor in sweatshops and other enterprises. This is one of the mail things that all these new leftist governments are about--in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela and Bolivia--and soon in Ecuador, and possibly Peru (next election cycle): national and regional self-determination, and freedom from US domination.

South America is one of the brightest spots on the globe, as to democracy, majority rule, compassionate policy, lack of militarism, and smarts on the part of the country's leaders. Venezuela, Bolivia, and also, recently, the Ecuadoran candidate, have all been vocal about US policy and Bush. Strength in numbers! It looks like Chile and others have resisted US strongarming re Venezuela gaining a seat on the Security Council next year. (It looks like they will support Venezuela's bid for that seat.) These are all good signs of regional solidarity (and there are many others). I'm hoping Venezuela can provide some leadership in the UN on Bush torture and suspension of habeas corpus, and other outrages, as well as on matters like Posada Cariles and other brutal interference (and all interference) in Latin America. (--i.e., US Congress FUNDING the political opposition to Chavez in Venezuela, against Venezuelan law, and no doubt doing the same in other countries). The more vocal they are, and the more they hang together, the safer they all are.

It's amazing what miracles TRANSPARENT elections can accomplish!

Viva la revolución!

That is why they prefer to stir up shit in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. A stronger South America has made them more cautious. They need to trust the semi slave Hispanic labor. Our Southern borders are too transparent to make too many enemies in our own hemisphere. Long live the memory of General Smedly Butler, "War is a Racket".

9. Thank you, Robert. Posada Carriles has the goods on Poppy.
The turd should be in witness protection.

If he should get extradited and something should happen to him, it would make me wonder who Chavez works for.

Posada Carriles´ Victims Not Forgotten

In less than two weeks, we will solemnly observe the 30th anniversary of the cold blooded murder of 73 innocent men, women and children over the waters of Barbados.

Too often we speak about terrorism in general terms, as if it were something that involves issues-rather than people, and I suppose that this makes it easier to swallow the U.S. government's double standard in its so-called war on terrorism.

But we should never forget that terrorism is principally about the victims and that the memory of lives cut short by bombs or bullets ought never be forgotten.

The most notorious terrorist of the Western Hemisphere, Luis Posada Carriles, stands on the verge of being released from immigration custody by the Bush Administration. This terrorist is wanted in Venezuela for seventy-three counts of first degree murder in relation to the downing of a Cubana de Aviación passenger plane on October 6th, 1976.

Aboard CU-455 were 73 persons. 57 of the passengers were Cubans. 11 aboard were Guyanese, including a little nine year old girl named Harry Paul. The remaining five passengers were Koreans. Those on board averaged only 30 years of age.

Traveling with the group were 24 members of the Cuban fencing team, many of them teen-agers, fresh from gold medal victories at the Youth Fencing Championship in Caracas. One of the young fencers, Nancy Uranga, was only twenty-three years old and pregnant. The athletes proudly wore their medals dangling over their clothes, as they boarded the aircraft. Cubana de Aviación 455 stopped first in Trinidad at 11:03 AM, and then touched down again in Barbados at 12:25 PM.

Nine minutes after take-off from Barbados, two bombs made of C-4 exploded and the plane caught fire. The passengers on board who survived the explosions then lived the most horrifying ten minutes of their lives, as the plane turned into a scorching coffin.

The cockpit voice-recorder captured the last terrifying moments of the flight at 1:24 PM: "Seawell! Seawell! CU-455 Seawell...! We have an explosion on board.... We have a fire on board."

The pilot, Wilfredo Pérez (affectionately known as "Felo"), asked Seawell Airport for permission to return and land, but the plane and its passengers were already doomed.

As the plane approached the shore, it was rapidly losing altitude and control. "Hit the water, Felo, Hit the Water," said the co-pilot.

Rather than crashing into the white sands of the beach called Paradise and killing the beachgoers, Felo courageously banked the plane toward the water where it crashed in a ball of fire one mile north of Deep Water Bay.

Pieces of bodies were slowly recovered from the sea. Most of them too grotesquely disfigured to be identified by their family members.

14. I don't get it, Octafish. Chavez wants him prosecuted for the Cubana
bombings, and what better way to dig into his death squad activities and find the perps behind them? He's wanted in Venezuela for the airline bombings. People just don't get disappeared in Venezuela, like they do under US-backed regimes (coming here soon). They actually have civil rights and the rule of law in that country, unlike here. And if Posada gets extradited there (fat chance), if he were to be killed in Venezuela, it wouldn't be by the Venezuelans! They want the truth to come out! It would be by the Bushite CIA, like the operatives who recently conducted the prison break for the two perps of the violent military coup attempt against Chavez.

So I don't get this swipe at Chavez. There is no basis for it. What do you mean, you would "wonder who Chavez works for." What are you implying? And why imply that? Got any evidence for that implication?

You want Posada in "witness protection" where? In BushWorld?

Anyway, if he had the goods on Poppa & cabal, he wouldn't be alive. (I don't think many people at DU have yet realized what all the torture and and arrest without cause, and detention without recourse, have been FOR.)

17. Chavez wants justice in this matter. So do I.
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 08:54 AM by Octafish
I'm sorry I wasn't very clear. What I meant was that Luis Posada Carriles represents a major threat to Poppy Bush, because of Posada's apparent involvement from everything BFEE from the Bay of Pigs and the assassination of President Kennedy to the murders of innocent people aboard the Cuban jetliner and in the streets of Washington D.C. to Iran-contra Murder & Dope Inc.

People who know too much represent a problem for the BFEE. Remember Cliff Baxter, Danny Casolaro, Mark Lombardi, Abbie Hoffman, James Hatfield and many others? "No man. No problem."

I brought up Chavez because he seems to be a hero to the people of Venezuela, South America and to much of the world in general. As he pegged monkey for the satanic turd he is, I like Chavez too. My comment was directed at what he does not seem to be -- another agent of the BFEE.

Really, I do not believe Chavez works for Poppy or anybody other than himself. The comment refers to the really good spies who get to the highest levels and do their best to battle their real side. While having all the proper credentials, these really work to undermine the side people think they are on.

Case in point: Igor Orlov. The NAZIs themselves said the guy, a former Soviet officer, had all the bona fides: On a flight over German occupied territory, during the height of the German advance into the USSR, Orlov shot the pilot and co-pilot and bailed out. Orlov himself was shot as he landed by the Germans. He managed to convince the NAZI generals that he wanted to defect, stating what he did to the pilots and naming various agents who had previously penetrated their network. These agents were rounded up, tortured, “confessed” and shot. Even though Orlov was really working for Stalin, Hitler’s people were impressed and gave him a job fighting the Commies. After the war, the CIA imported this former NAZI to join the Cold War fight with the Communists. Orlov worked out of Berlin. Nobody on the U.S. side had a clue about his true affiliation, even after hundreds, if not thousands, of allied agents disappeared on assignments in the Eastern Bloc. One can only imagine Alan Dulles’ surprise.

There are other examples of this in the U.S. Aldrich Ames at CIA and Robert Hanssen at FBI. From the top of their agencies, these guys seemed to be paragons of Commie hunting. Instead, they both sold out OUR country for money. Consider ex-Congressman Mark Foley, (R-Fla.). That child molester chaired the subcommittee on missing and exploited children.

Let me be clear. I am 99-percent sure that Chavez is a good guy. I’ve smelled the sulfur around the Bushes since Ford sent him to head the CIA in 1976. The one-percent comes from him floating the idea that he needs to be named president of Venezuela for the next 25 years. No country can afford that very BFEE-like idea.

EDIT: Please let me be clear -- Posada Carriles needs witness protection from George Herbert Walker Bush and his cronies. I want Posada Carriles to stand trial in Venezuela and in Cuba for what he's done to innocent people on behalf of the BFEE. I don't think Chavez is one of the BFEE, but if something were to happen to Posada before a trial in Venezuela, I'd have to wonder who's who and what's what.

21. Very interesting perspective, Octafish.
And thanks for the story of Igor Orlov, who I was not familiar with. So many of the real life stories of intelligence operatives blow away anything Hollywood attempts by comparison.

As far as Chavez goes, he's definitely someone whose every move I watch. He's not just some clown as MSM tends to portray him, he is definitely a mover and shaker since overcoming the BFEE coup attempt in 2002. Everyone talks about his close ties with Cuba and Iran, but I think what is most important is the steps he's taken to tie the economic interests of his country with China, especially where oil is concerned. I don't have the link, but I did read recently that oil imports from Venezuela to China have gone from zero in 2002 to over 100,000 barrels a day this year, with plans to get to a quarter million by 2008.

I'm not exactly sure how that ties in with Posada Carriles. (Wasn't Poppy Ambassador to China before heading the CIA?) But strange geopolitical maneuvers are afoot, and I think the fate of Posada Carriles plays an important though often hidden role in many of these maneuvers.

23. Posada will spill his guts, if he's imprisoned.
Posada will spill his guts, if he's freed.

Posada won't talk, if he's dead.

Regarding Igor Orlove: Most of that information is suppressed. Author Joseph Trento in his book "The Secret History of the CIA" was my source.

Regarding wolves in sheep's clothing: Here's Trento on Averell Harriman, rich SOB, former Ambassador to Russia, ex-Governor of New York and one-time close business associate of Prescott Bush and Allen Dulles.

From The Secret History of the CIA by Joseph Trento:

Who changed the coup into the murder of Diem, Nhu and a Catholic priest accompanying them? (...) Kennedy immediately ordered William R. Corson to find out what had happened and who was responsible. The answer he came up with: "On instructions from Averell Harriman…. The orders that ended in the deaths of Diem and his brother originated with Harriman and were carried out by Henry Cabot Lodge, jr.’s own military assistant."

Having served as ambassador to Moscow and governor of New York, W. Averell Harriman was in the middle of a long public career. In 1960, President-elect Kennedy appointed him ambassador-at-large, to operate "with the full confidence of the president and an intimate knowledge of all aspects of United States policy." By 1963, according to Corson, Harriman was running "Vietnam without consulting the president or the attorney general.”

“The Secret History of the CIA.” Joseph Trento. 2001, Prima Publishing. pp. 334-335.

Gee. Harriman also forgot to tell U.S. ambassador to India John Kenneth Galbraith the go-ahead for peace overtures to North Vietnam.

Papers reveal JFK efforts on Vietnam

By Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | June 6, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Newly uncovered documents from both American and Polish archives show that President John F. Kennedy and the Soviet Union secretly sought ways to find a diplomatic settlement to the war in Vietnam, starting three years before the United States sent combat troops.

Kennedy, relying on his ambassador to India, John Kenneth Galbraith, planned to reach out to the North Vietnamese in April 1962 through a senior Indian diplomat, according to a secret State Department cable that was never dispatched.

Back-channel discussions also were attempted in January 1963, this time through the Polish government, which relayed the overture to Soviet leaders. New Polish records indicate Moscow was much more open than previously thought to using its influence with North Vietnam to cool a Cold War flash point.

SNIP...

''The president wants to have instructions sent to Ambassador Galbraith to talk to Desai telling him that if Hanoi takes steps to reduce guerrilla activity , we would correspond accordingly," Harriman states in an April 17, 1962, memo to his staff. ''If they stop the guerrilla activity entirely, we would withdraw to a normal basis."

A draft cable dated the same day instructed Galbraith to use Desai as a ''channel discreetly communicating to responsible leaders North Vietnamese regime . . . the president's position as he indicated it."

But a week later, Harriman met with Kennedy and apparently persuaded him to delay, according to other documents, and the overture was never revived.

30. Justice and Memory: Gen. Carlos Prats Gonzalez and Sofia Cuthbert
Gen. Prats was loyal to his nation's Constitution.

The Carlos Prats Case: An Historic Trial

Hernan Quezada C.
Prosecuting Attorney

EXCERPT...

a) The facts

On Monday, September 30, 1974, at approximately 0,50 horas, 12:30 AM in the city of Buenos Aires, Chile's former Commander-in-Chief of the Army, also former Vice President of the Republic, General Carlos Prats Gonzalez and his wife Sofia Cuthbert died from the explosion of a bomb planted under the floor of their car, between the two front seats and over the accelerator when they were arriving at their home. The scorched remains of the car and the victims' bodies were scattered over a radius of 50 meters just as they were returning to their residence. The bomb exploded after General Prats got out to open the garage door and just as he returned to the car, where his wife Sofía Cuthbert waited inside.

General Carlos Prats fled Chile September 15 1973, just a few days after the coup, to save his life from the menace of military officials who had seized power. His wife later joined him in Argentina.

According to the expert report prepared by Argentine Federal Police on November 6, 1974, General Prats' car was completely and irreparably damaged, having burned up after the explosion. Windows shattered in the building and adjacent homes and the garage door in front of the parked car was blown off.

Autopsy reports indicate that General Prats died from trauma, multiple viceral-vascular injuries, and internal and external hemorraging. His wife Sofia Cuthbert died as the consequence of the multiple bone-organ-vascular destruction internal hemoraging.

Is this what awaits honest leaders in Bush's version of the United States of America?

31. They do a very thorough job, don't they?
I pray the people involved WILL be brought to justice someday.

The General Carlos Prat, somewhat at a disadvantage:

I kid you not:

Kissinger Declassified

by Lucy Komisar

Too much blood: Kissinger and Pinochet

I recently got hold of a declassified memorandum about Henry Kissinger's only meeting with Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The meeting occurred on June 8, 1976, in Santiago, and the internal State Department memorandum shows how hard Kissinger tried to shield the Chilean general from criticism and assure him that his human rights violations were not a serious problem as far as the U.S. government was concerned.

I had been trying since 1995 to get the memorandum, which was stamped Secret/Nodis (No Distribution). My initial request was refused, but suddenly, to my surprise, the State Department "memorandum of conversation" arrived in the mail in October, shortly after Pinochet's arrest, with a note explaining that, on re-review, it had been opened in full.

The memo describes how Secretary of State Kissinger stroked and bolstered Pinochet, how--with hundreds of political prisoners still being jailed and tortured--Kissinger told Pinochet that the Ford Administration would not hold those human rights violations against him. At a time when Pinochet was the target of international censure for state-sponsored torture, disappearances, and murders, Kis-singer assured him that he was a victim of communist propaganda and urged him not to pay too much attention to American critics.

SNIP...

Then he made clear that the U.S. government was squarely behind Pinochet. "In the United States, as you know, we are sympathetic with what you are trying to do here," Kissinger told Pinochet. "I think that the previous government was headed toward communism. We wish your government well."

A little while later, he added: "My evaluation is that you are a victim of all leftwing groups around the world, and that your greatest sin was that you overthrew a government which was going Communist."

Is it any wonder that these turds would steal Election 2000?

Moreover, does anyone in Congress think something fishy happened to Paul Wellstone?

Muchisimas gracias for the link to the Spanish article, Judi Lynn. As I'm at the rabbit, I'll have to read this evening. I promise to report.

33. Great article... Operation CONDOR.
The "El Correo" ("The Mail") article details the ruling of an appeals court. Pinochet is not immune to prosecution. It also details Operation CONDOR and the people involved, including those accused and the victims, including Bernardo Leighton and his wife, shot and wounded in Rome in 1975.

For those interested in what this is all about:

It's important because gangsters like Poppy Bush and Henry Rockefeller Kissinger wouldn't mind seeing it come to the USA in a more expanded form.

We can't stop now, DU. It takes more than opposing Bush. We need the facts to take down these gangsters, war criminals and traitors.
