He was my Congressman when I lived in the States until re-districting.

I met him a few times. I met him in the hallway once of city hall for a town hall meeting and he was rather friendly.

He also asked me several times to work for him as a page and even offered help in attaining housing in DC. I almost took the offer but decided not too. Who you're possibly referring to is Willie Logan. Mr. Logan was a democratic state Rep. from Opa-Locka who ran for the U.S. Senate as an independent in 2000 and before that - was courted by the GOP to join their ranks.

I remember a picture of Logan, who is African-American, on a luxury yacht "Forty More" where then-Florida GOP Chairman Tom Slade was shown serving him dinner or something.
