Non political question about starting a post
How come some threads have a 'view all' link you need to click and others automatically show all posts in a thread. Is there a way to start a thread that doesn't use the 'view all' option?

1. I think it has to do with the size of the thread
If it's past a certain number of posts, you'll get "view all"...

4. no, I don't think that's right
I've noticed threads with just a few posts have 'view all' and others don't

6. not only the number of replies
but the number of lines of text in the replies, I think. sometimes it kicks in at 15, but it always kisks in at 20.

8. Sometimes if you come to a post in a certain way it will have a "view all"
even if it is under the number of posts "required." This seems to have something to do with viewing replies to posts.

10. You are correct
When i came to this thread from the reply in My DU, I got a view all. When I come from the front page, then it gets no view all.

11. If you open a reply directly, through a search of direct link from
somewhere else, it opens with all reply text. Otherwise it is number of threads.

9. It's right
After they reach 20 post then you have the "view all" option.

(Trying to help you get this one to 20 so you can see.) :)

3. number of replies
That's all it is. Once a certain number is reached, 20 or so I think, then all posts do not get pulled automatically in deference to those still using dial up.

5. Is it a setting thing then
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 02:26 PM by kineta
this post only has about 5 replies but i can only see all of them with 'view all'

On edit: no - can't be my settings - this thread (for instance) has about 6 posts and I can see all the content and there is no 'view all' at the top or in the index. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2258299

what gives?

7. I don't think it's the number of posts
For instance this thread, even when there was only one reply, required clicking on 'view all' to see the content of the posts.
