I just thanked "my" senator (Pryor) for helping destroy my beautiful
country, my beloved Constitution, and for stripping me of my rights. Good job!, I says.

However, I was compassionate enough to remind him that he has also stripped HIMSELF, his family, and his friends of their rights as well.

I'll let you know when he replies to my message. I asked for an explanation. I hope I get one.

1. We seem to be thinking alike
My letter to Sen. Murkowski

I thought you were a woman of conscience, Sen. Murkowski. I am very disappointed in your vote for the torture bill. How could you suspend habeas corpus and deny these people basic human rights? How can you be so sure that everyone who is "detained" is a guilty terrorist? We can't even get that right in our own country - that's why we have trials and appeals. Are innocent Middle Easterners any less human?

It's a sad day for America, and you should be ashamed.

Of course, I guess it's what I should expect from a Republican. Still, I thought maybe she had a little more sense than this.

3. My comments to Rick Santorum:
Dear Mr. Santorum:

I would like to thank you for voting in favor of the detainee bill.

As you probably recall, our enemies hate us for our freedoms. By taking away the rights of illegal enemy combatants (a term so loosely defined as to render it meaningless), you helped our government take away some of our precious freedoms. As we continue to lose these freedoms (I understand you will be approving warrantless wiretapping shortly – an assault on Fourth Amendment to the Constitution), America will be safer yet. Fewer and fewer reasons for the terrorists to hate us.

Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you.

Rich
