Gutless Democrats saying Aye:
From Daily Kos:

On the question do you favor (1) allowing the President to define torture, (2) strip the court of judicial review via habeas corpus (even though the constitution does not allow you to except in cases of invasion or Rebellion), and (3) allowing the President to jail American citizens arbitrarily and without court review?

Gutless Democrats saying Aye:
Tom Carper (Del.)
Tim Johnson (S.D.)
Mary Landrieu (La.)
Frank Lautenberg (N.J.)
Bob Menendez (N.J)
Bill Nelson (Fla.)
Ben Nelson (Neb.)
Pryor (Ark.)
Jay Rockefeller (W. Va.)
Ken Salazar (Co.)
Debbie Stabenow (Mich.)

Gutless Connecticut for Liebermans saying Aye:

How did this happen? The Right plowed, fertilized and cultivated this soil over the last 30 years, and plenty of "Democrats" helped them:

From talkleft:

by TChris

We've heard the rhetoric before. Republicans are repackaging their "tough on crime" speeches as "tough on terror" and complaining that anyone who stands in the way of increasing executive power at the expense of individual rights is "coddling" -- criminals or terrorists, your pick.

While not all Democrats are liberal, of course, the swing to fascism could not happen without Democratic support. While I don't think BushCo helped plan 9/11, a good part of the Right must have been, and still is, very happy it happened. The bigger the crime, the more we tremble and surrender to their godly power. Please protect me!

It's as sickening as the old movies where the beautiful and helpless woman trembles in terrified despair while waiting for her knight in shining armor to save her. "Don't worry, darlin', I'll save you!" Bush says, and gallops up on his horse that promptly takes a healthy shit. "Cut!" Rove screams. "Let's do it again, wholesome this time."

So Rove wipes the horse's ass with the Constitution and they do another take.

1. In a matter of days or weeks, they will be saying...
they didn't have all the facts...If they had known at the time of their vote, they would have voted differently. Slap them in the face if they say that bullshit again.

5. Did they really think they could get any amendments passed?
If so, they are weak and stupid.

If not, they are traitors.

16. They value their jobs more than their consciences.
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 10:51 AM by Tesha
And the cool part is, given the conventional wisdom
around here about "always voting for the Democrat, no
matter what!", there's no actual way we can punish them
for their behavior until two to six years later!

And of course, by the time we whack them upside the head
with a rolled-up primary opponent, these yapping dogs will
have long since forgotten that we're punishing them because
they crapped on the Constitution back in '06.

17. (a) We got rid of him from the Democratic Party...
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 10:57 AM by BlooInBloo
... thus making our party stronger.

(b) Lamont has closed like a 20-point gap to be within a few points now - statistically tied. I expect him to win.

EDIT: The snark/implied criticism of your remark is telling. I give an example of Democrats strengthening the party, and get snark back. And this, to an OP that bitches about "gutless democrats". Can't live with 'em, can't.... Sheesh.

18. Lieberman Leads in Connecticut
Lieberman Leads in Connecticut

As the Ramble nears its end (whew!), we turn our attention back to our favorite race of this election cycle -- the Connecticut Senate contest.

A new Quinnipiac poll out this morning shows Sen. Joe Lieberman, who is running as an independent, leading businessman Ned Lamont (D) 49 percent to 39 percent. Former state Rep. Alan Schlesinger (R) receives a measly five percent support, while seven percent of the sample remains undecided.

The results are essentially unchanged from an August Quinnipiac survey when Lieberman held a 53 percent to 41 percent lead over Lamont. That poll was conducted just days after Lamont defeated Lieberman in the state's Aug. 8 primary.

Call it snarky all you want. Would it be possible without Democratic support?
