When will the D.C. Dems fucking learn?

How about acting like a goddamned OPPOSITION PARTY every once in awhile.

Instead we let McCain and his group of "mavericks" debate for us.

1. Agreed- This was the fatal error. Democrats cannot afford to let

maverick republicans fight their battles for them. When will we learn?

Once you surrender your moral authority to somebody, it is simply a lot more difficult to fight against what they negotiated. Reid and Levin were still thanking McCain in their closing statements and this was weakening their arguments and giving a cover to the Democrats who were voting YES (the bill was better than Bush's).

2. AMEN.....
At the risk of being controversial (and please note that I'm not a Lieberman backer)...we got all excited about Joe being a traitor to the party and couldn't wait to oust him, but then we go around and give guys like McCain a free pass because he throws us a talking point every once in a while. That makes absolutely no sense at all.

4. The truth isn't controversial.
For the past 2 or 3 months, most "liberal" blogs I visit have been railing against Lieberman MORE than Republicans, and they only seemed to notice this bill once it was passed.

I'm starting to get fed up..

When the "liberal" blogs spend an entire summer taking down a Democrat, and no time at all on beating Republican opponents, it really makes me wonder. It will be tragically ironic if Lamont loses, and Lieberman is then holding a Senate seat as right-leaning Independant...

6. Bingo.
I think blogs are inherently valuable to the process, but I think they are taken much too seriously and the Dem party has given them too much credence in dictating the direction of the party. Eventually, you'll have to be a blogger to get your opinion heard, and that's just not right. I'm not saying blogs should be excluded from the process...very much the opposite. I'm just saying their influence needs to be measured somewhat.

5. Kick - Interesting how threads who remind that the GOP is the ennemy sink.
