97 days
Having now lived through years of watching idiots trample on my nation, I've little doubt I can survive 97 more days.

More than 2,700 of my fellow Americans were sent to their slaughter by an administration who cares more about lining their friends' pockets than they do for the men and women who live here. I think - with those 2,700+ soldiers and their families depending on me - I can survive 97 more days.

I have spent hours upon hours talking about the dangers of electronic voting machines to anyone and everyone I meet. There's still more work to do so I think I can find a way to survive another 97 more days.

My brother served in a Vietnamese hell hole for four months before being blown to bits by a land mine as a part of another war based on lies and speculation. I'm sure I can survive another 97 days.

97 more days until my fellow Americans breathe new life into our Congress. 97 more days until the rubber stamp is split. 97 more days until the damage can start to be repaired. 97 more days until we, the American people, can begin impeachment hearings. 97 more days until bit by bit, memo by memo, the truth is told about the energy hearings, about Plame, about Niger yellowcake, about mushroom clouds, about the military's non-action on Sept. 11th, about a president who wasted 20+ minutes while the nation was devastated, about journalists on the public payroll, about propaganda being fed to news outlets, about domestic spying, about so many other things we don't know about and that I'm just not sick enough to dream up.

For now, let them eat cake... for 97 more days.

2. Nope -- there are no chickens left, only chickenhawks
We are taking over Congress because the rest of America is just as ticked off as I am.

4. GOP slogan alert: "Cut and Run"
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 10:09 PM by Zambero
The Republicans aren't quite ready to concede defeat just yet. They are planning on playing their terror card to the max, and today's sppeech by Bush in which he blasted the Democrats as being the "Cut and Run" party is just the beginning. Remember "Flip-Flop" two years ago? The old tried and true Nazi propaganda ploy of repeating a simple phrase again and again until a large segment of the unthinking public accepts it as gospel truth paid off then, and the GOP is working from the same Karl Rovesque script this time around. "Cut and Run" is emerging as this year's "Flip-Flop" catch phrase.

Democrats need to hit back and hit back hard. Turn this crap right back in the direction it came from. I suggest that Bush's failed and fallacious Iraq policy be labelled as "HIT AND RUN". "Hit" for a reckless pre-emptive war based on a false premise, and "Run" being the long run from the truth that has happended ever since. The WMD farce, "Mission Accomplished", torture coverups, the notion that we're making progress against a growing insurgency, inadeguate protective equipment for the troops, the implied Saddam Hussein-9/11 connection, to name some examples. Neutralizing the coming GOP attack campaign won't be good enough. These cretins need to be shown the door, and given a swift kick out into the gutter where they rightfully belong.

6. Yella-bellied sap-suckers
It was my father's term for those who wanted others to fight their battles for them... for those who didn't understand the honor of giving your word... for those who refused to work for a living... for those who resented those of us who did work for a living... for those who couldn't be bothered to help out the widow woman down the street... for those who didn't open the door for a lady or help a child across the street...

Basically it was a short-hand, family-friendly version of calling someone self-centered, arrogant, ignorant, pig-headed, lazy, a waste of flesh, lying sack of shit.

As I've been walking my precinct, it's played really well with people of various age levels. So... for this Democratic woman, I'll be using the catch-phrase 'yella-bellied sap-suckers' as much as humanly possible between now and election day. For the whole of the nation, however, I suggest something more pointed and direct like "incompetent liars."

5. Job 1 must be
to make the Republics the minority party. That is the goal. All else flows from that.
