Four Strong People Are Holding You Down. You Are Powerless To Resist Them.
There is a fifth standing above you. He is holding a red pill and a blue pill.

You must choose a pill.

The red one will make its way through your body and tear apart your insides. It will cause you tremendous pain and travail while it injects a virus throughout. This virus will be contagious. In time, it will spread around the globe and most of the world's inhabitants will become infected as well. There will be massive suffering.

The blue one, however, only causes temporary nausea. It will stay in your system and will cause this nauseous feeling every couple of weeks. It also contains a good bacteria that when spread, causes people to have a better quality of life. Not everyone will feel nauseous every couple of weeks, but anyone infected will eventually have a better quality of life.

Two pills. You must choose one. You can kick, scream, cry, fight, whine, moan and resist, but you aren't getting away from the people holding you down. You can clench your teeth as much as you want, but they are more than powerful enough to pry them open.

You can cry out with every breath you have that you refuse to choose a pill. You can stand steadfast and swear on your soul you will not be forced to make a choice. You will not choose. They can go fuck themselves.

But they're gonna give you a pill anyway. You can't stop them. You're gettin a pill.

If you force them to make the choice for you, I'm bettin they ain't givin ya the blue one...

1. Never Surrender
Do not surrender even when defeated,
and do not be a slave even in bondage,
trembling with fear advance bravely,
and attack with fury, though badly wounded.

Be as stubborn as a rusting nail,
that refuses to yield though old and ruined,
and do not envy the peacock's plumage,
that drops in fear at the first noise.

Be as a god that never cries,
or as a devil that never prays,
or as the oak whose mighty canopy,
needs of water but does not beg it.

Even when it rolls to the dust,
let your head scowl and bite,
and scream for vengeance.

- Pedro Palacios Almafuerte
Argentinian poet 1854-1917

Believe it or not, this is my mother's favorite poem.
She is my guiding light.
God bless her and keep her.

Now, what were you saying about the pills?

11. Not The Point.
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 10:13 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
The point is that whether you vote or not in November, whether you cry, kick, scream or whine or fold your arms in disgust, the election will take place anyway. Congress will have its majority anyway. The majority will either be blue, or the majority will be red.

So which fuckin pill's it gonna be: The red one or the blue one?

If ya don't want the red one, better start doin whatever you can to advocate for the blue.

And for the record, I willingly and graciously take my blue pill.

(insert bad viagra joke here LOL )

20. LOL Don't Bother With Reasoning.
This particular poster makes it a tired old habit of responding to anything I say with Walmart retort or an SUV retort. Quite boring and nonsensical actually.

See, I drive a 2002 Chevy Blazer, and shop at Walmart sometimes to get infant formula and diapers. Some are narrow minded enough to think you are the anti-christ if you do such things. So in this case, it is just another dime a dozen empty of substance grade school walmart/suv comment that I've come to expect from this poster. It's quite humorous to me actually.

When you respond with character assassination, rather than defending your point of view?

This is not an ego exercise for me- DU is a place to voice perspectives, thoughts, fears, and ideas.
Some of my posts are met with intelligent replies that completely destroy my precept, but also educate me, or bring me up short and force me to rethink-
But what the hell eh? just choose the blue pill- instead of demanding that no one ever be held down and forced to choose between hell, and hell.

Live free or die. Sometimes the choices are made FOR us.
This may be one of those times.

Human'kind'... intelligent designs biggest mistake, or evolutions inevitable swan song.

37. Not Sure What In The World You're Talking About, But I Think You Missed
the point.

You can voice whatever displeasure you want about the pills. In the end you still have to take one. There is no choice in the matter. It isn't up to you. You must take one. Will it be the red one or the blue one?

See, the concept that some are failing to understand, is that come November there will be an election with or without you: Whether you vote or not. In the end of that election, you would've been forced to have taken a pill. It will be either the red one or the blue one. I'd say t'would be smarter to go for the blue one, don't you?

51. No, OMC, you are living
in denial, I believe- Who made the blue pill? Same folks that bring you the red one I'm afraid.
Both are potentially contaminated with e-coli. And we are all operating on compromised immune systems. There are more than 2 choices. I can think of at least 4 total, without having to stress what little is left of my brain.

And one of those choices is the same one we all will have handed to us like it or not. It isn't a choice it is a fact of 'life'.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

I've been livin on blue pills for a LONG time now. I'm begining to realize they're only placebos.
And the cancer has never been in remission.

32. Though This Is The Last Person I'm Inclined To Defend, I Must Acknowledge
that during 1990-1991 Queensryche went on their theatrical Mindcrime tour while promoting Empire. I caught a show myself and it is still the best concert I've ever been to. Sister Mary on stage and all. Though they played some Empire stuff and some oldies as well, the show was mainly dedicated to a full Mincrime set acting it out in a theatrical fashion. It was mindblowing. That's when they filmed the 'Operation Livecrime' video.

Strangest thing is that I would've never known I actually had something in common with the particular poster. Empire's one of my favorite songs from them as well and I was always disappointed it didn't get more airplay.

I'm glad you were able to see them as well, and appreciate their lyrics like you do. I chose my SN cause so many of their lyrics are still appropriate right now.

Rock on bro.

26. I *ALWAYS* choose the proverbial Blue Pill.
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 11:21 PM by impeachdubya
But you know what? That doesn't preclude me from mentioning, from time to time, that the manufacturers of the blue pill are often doing a piss-poor job. Not only could they, in my opinion, remove the "slight nausea" side effect, they could make the product a SHITLOAD better. And since I am such a good customer, and a REGULAR customer, of the blue pill, damn straight they need my feedback.

Frankly, I think they're going about their marketing all wrong. There is a whole bunch of theocracy-drunk goons in this country who are gonna take the red pill come hell or high water. Time to stop selling out the blue pill regulars to try to convince that gang to take the thing. Instead, we should make the blue pill more appealing by throwing in some added, new benefits to blue pill-dom, so we can sell it to millions of socially libertarian pill-takers who can't figure out which pill sounds better to them, and "green pill" voters who don't want either pill- After all, WE know which one is better, already.

39. Well That's Completely Illogical.
So you'd rather commit suicide in November rather than vote? That's what you just said. Are you seriously considering suicide? Cause after the election, America will have either swallowed the red pill or the blue pill. As long as you are still breathing, you would've swallowed one as well. Like I said, you have to take a pill. So either you are planning to kill yourself prior to election day, or you are in fact going to have to take the pill. Since the former would seem absurd, which will it be of the latter? The red pill or the blue pill?

47. take a logic class
Seriously.

This does not even merit a response.

This is an illogical allegory. Choosing not to vote for a candidate that endorses torture would be akin to refusing to take either pill. Committing suicide would be akin to moving to another country or, perhaps, actually committing suicide.

I don't understand how some DUers can fault other DUers for their anger at "our representatives" selling out. Where do you draw the line? Would you be making this argument if the Congress had today voted to reinstate slavery or rescind suffrage for women?

You cannot force others on this board to legitimize appeasement. Again: live free or die. That kinda sums it up.

Either way, it's Rove's wet dream.

I intend to vote straight ticket Democrat. None of the people I have the opportunity to vote for voted for this; I am in Texas. I am voting against incumbent Republicans like Hutchison and Cornyn, may they burn in hell.

49. Still Not Getting It.
It doesn't matter how much you protest or where you move. There will be an election anyway. That election will determine a majority. That majority will be either republican or democratic. It doesn't matter who does or doesn't vote. That majority will exist anyway. So even if you don't vote, when you wake up that next morning to a republican majority then you have simply been forced to have the red pill. Even if you move, that red pill's policies and effects can be felt. You can't avoid it. You have to take a pill. Come november, we all would've eaten either the red or the blue. It really is quite a simple analogy to understand, with all due respect.

And furthermore, this has nothing to do with displeasure with the dems or speaking out against what some of them may have done today. It is in reference to those declaring they refuse to vote in November now: That they refuse to support the Democratic ticket anymore. This isn't about critique. It is about foolishness. We are all taking a pill one way or the other. Some voluntarily or eagerly, some by force. But the end result is the same.

So which pill will it be for you? The blue one or the red one? You have no choice but to choose.

all liberals are not moral relativists.

Torture is unnacceptable.

The suspension of habeas corpus is unnacceptable.

Period.

I leave it to each individual to determine whether and how to vote.

I am lucky. I get to vote my conscience AND take the blue pill. But I would NOT fault others who refuse to be appeasers.

I fear we'll be having a revolution, anyway, you see.
