I'm one of those who was angry about the torture bill, but listen to this:
We need to win, and anything we can do to win is what needs to happen. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/9/28/193836/545?detail=f
That is the best comment I have ever read, and I encourage all those like my former self to read it. They have been torturing for five years and we weren't among those tortured. The President cannot pardon himself, which is exactly what this law will do. By signing it he has signed his own pardon, but in American law such a concept is obviously unconstitutional prima facia.

We need to work on getting one of the houses in Congress, because whether we win or not may determine the fate of America, no bullshit, that is the honest truth.

We have one chance and only one chance to get this right, not only for our party, but for the entire country. (Even for those Republicans who are being brainwashed by the President and his wo/men.)

We need to make sure that America understands more of the same means absolutely no hope for any decent retreat or VICTORY in Iraq.

Bush is losing the Iraq war for America. He is losing the war on terror for America.

That isn't some bullshit political statement, but the absolute truth. He really is responsible for fucking it up because he is unwilling to adapt at the pace of the enemy, if not at a faster pace than al-Qaeda/the insurgents.

America may not agree that pulling out is the right action, but more than 60% agree CHANGE needs to happen! That is ten percent or more of the Republican party, so it isn't just Democrats who think this way.

It is our duty to this country to win this election, failure is not an option. If we fail in this, America fails.

Keep together, don't fall for Republican stunts, and good luck in the elections.

OPCKELLY

1. Bet There Will Still Be Optimists After They STEAL Another One
I'm sure that on November 8, plenty will be posting here about how critical it is to win in 2008.

I'll believe a Democrat victory when I see one. Until then, I consider myself as all other Democrats, LOSERS. It's what we do best, and it will take a victory to change my mind.

All the Rah Rah Rah, let's fight fight fight, is all good and well, but the election is what matters. And I do not think the repubs are going to let the Democrats win Shit if they can help it. And face it, they can help it.

12. Why are you giving them your power?
We OWN this country. The idiots we hire to drive the bus are just that: employees. YOU have the power to fire them. You have more power than 99.99% of the people who have ever waled on this planet. You can change this regime: You do that by registering to vote, by registering others, by rounding up your friends and family, by talking about politics, by writing the papers, laughing at the idiots and GETTING THEM OUT OF OFFICE.

If there are a thousand people who vote in an election and 999 vote for one candidate, but the other one wins, you have the power to contest that election... but only if you're organized and only if you fight.

If you lay down and let them walk over you, you've given up your power. I will die fighting to preserve this country and its Constitution -- I took that oath as a young woman and I will not violate it. And if that means suing the pants off of my County Clerk and Recorder, the Secretary of the state, and the feds, then I will do so. If it takes marching down the street with my white cane and guide pony, so be it. They do not get to win by playing with their techie toys.

2. It won't stand, and everyone who voted for it is guilty of aiding/covering
up war crimes. I don't know what the penalty for that is, and what other countries are prepared to do when these people visit them, but I sure as hell would not want to be in their shoes. On the record, in perpetuity.

Hard to believe there is a bright side, but here it is: this will not stand, it will not be forgotten, it may very well be the death knell we have been waiting for.
They are emploding, real time. Added bonus: they are taking the collaborators with them.

3. Thank you for your post..
..and the link... good points made all around...

the reds can try and steal as many elections as they can, but more and more people are becoming aware of the fallacy of electronic voting and are voting absentee, and are starting to activate to attain secure, honest elections once again... and if that take years, well then, so be it....

as you so aptly said.. "It is our duty to this country to win this election, failure is not an option. If we fail in this, America fails."

:hi:

5. Now it is very scary indeed
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 09:22 PM by mazzarro
I feel that since the Dems are scared shit-less to even filibuster this obvious violation of the Geneva convention and the US constitution, I now have very serious doubt if they will even be able to stop the repukes from stealing the upcoming election. And from past history I am not holding my breadth that they will do anything to challenge the repukes after the stolen election. Yes I will be casting my vote, but I'm truly depressed about this shit!

9. United we stand, divided we fall.
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 11:38 PM by Straight Shooter
For once, please, let's do what the Repubs do and every one of us vote in unison for our party, even if some of us have to hold our nose.

Think John Conyers heading investigations. He'll blow the dome off the building, and expose bush for what he really is.

10. I'll have to vote for my pro-torture "Democratic" "representative"
It will be a vote for the "lesser of two evils". The past six years have shown just how much worse it is when the "greater of two evils" wins.

But I'm still faxing him a piece of my mind.
