It all goes back to the same question, don't it?
At what point do you decide that sacrificing principle is "worth it" in terms of political expediency?

We've gone around and around and AROUND about this one. And personally, I think the answer is as unique as each of us here. Many believe the line has been crossed, and they just CANNOT support a Dem who voted for this bill - no matter the cost. And many believe that the line has NOT been crossed, that without our continued support, things could get even WORSE.

Can we please simply honor each other's position on this? I can't think of anyone who doesn't ABHOR the bill itself, and I am so disgusted with Salazar I could just SPIT!!! But I DO believe things could be even worse. And that's why - holding my nose and clutching a half-filled barf bag, I would still pull a lever for Salazar. That's my position, but I respect the hell out of people who feel the other way.

1. In Florida there is an alternative candidate for Senator...
Nelson may as well wear Republican on his lapel... this is a grassroot campaign.. do what you want. Support who will support you. Sometimes this comes in the form of an Independant.

BRIAN MOORE
for U.S. Senate
An Independent Anti-War Candidate

FOR THE WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2006

"Living Income Program"

SPRING HILL FL. Sept. 22, 2006, Brian Moore, the independent anti-war candidate for the U.S. Senate (Ind.), proposed in the form of a news release a "Living Income Program" which would "provide $10,000 stipends annually to the lowest quintile (20%) of Americans, whether working or not." It would all depend on their economic situation.

Mr. Moore made his proposal in a one-hour debate with Anthony Kovovic and host Chris Krimitsos, a week and a half ago on the televised Tampa community television show, "Bleeping Truth."

I-4 Corridor Forum

LAKELAND FL. Sept. 21, 2006

Brian gave a rousing and impassioned speech and received applause and kudos for his speech. The major thrust of his talk was his criticism of the two party system, appealing to Democrats because Democratic Senator Bill Nelson does not vote according to their party's principles and takes big corporate money.

Continues at www.votebrianmoore. com (see Brian's blog)

Immigration

Joined the Immigration Protest in Tampa, Sat., 9/16 against a congressional bill which will criminalize illegal immigrants. Plus, *A border fence with Mexico sends the wrong message and does nothing to solve the immigration challenge*

Continues at www.votebrianmoore. com (see Brian's blog)

Opposes US--UK Extradition Agreement Which Hurts Irish-Americans.

Brian wrote our two Florida Senators (Nelson & Martinez) to oppose the ratification of a US-UK extradition treaty.

Irish-Americans, who donate money or help the cause of Irish unity in Ireland, can now be extradited to England as "terrorists" without the normal rights for all Americans. President Bush is pushing this as payback to Prime Minister Tony Blair for being a loyal ally in the Iraq War. More at www.votebrianmoore. com (see Brian's blog)

9/11 Five Year Anniversary Antiwar Demonstration

9. Our Independents tend to be more RW than the Repugs.
They're usually gun nuts who got disowned by the Republicans for being too whacky. So not much of an option here.

4. It's a two-step rocess.
FIRST we get a solid majority.

THEN we start straightening out the Weak Sisters. That's a sexist term, I know it, and I apologize, but it feels like the right one, somehow, just now.

7. After a day like today, though, it's hard to be optimistic.
Honestly, I do start to wonder what makes me think this could ever happen. I guess I just need more faith, somehow. That sounds pretty weak.
