Don't Blame The Democrats nor The Republicans. It's The People.
If the Democrats organized against this bill, they would surely lose in November. Why? Because a majority of the American people are apathetic, lazy, and largely ignorant. Another sizeable portion of the populace would welcome a Fascist government with open arms.

Face facts, this is the country that we all live in. Sane thinking people are a distinct minority.

1. That's factually incorrect. Most Americans are against this
illegal war and against torture.

It's only the deluded 33% that still support Junior and most Republican projects.

13. Here's a link to a 2005 Gallup poll. It only gives you a summary
wo a subscription but it's pretty clear that most people don't condone the government's use of torture.

6. There is a difference between being vaguely against something
and actually really really caring/speaking out...

A mild opinion doesn't cut it...I don't personally know anyone who knows or cares too much...

LOTS of very apolitical people out there...

They are all talking about some stupid ABC show premiering tonight called ugly duckling or something...

2. I'm not so sure. If people understood that they themselves were
not immune from imprisonment for life, or from torture, if the Dems had had the guts to make it an issue and make people think about it ... I think things could have been different. I can't forgive them for not at least trying.

I am really hating people right now. Stupid, no-nothing morons. Most people I know don't give a damn about any of this- all they can talk about is the lower gas prices.

Of course the local media don't help. All they can talk about is lower gas prices and the latest murder /shooting/car accident in town.

11. We've figured out what's going on - others could, too, if they weren't
STUPID.

I've moved past assuming they're ignorant. They must actually be stupid. Most people are stupid.

15. I think many people don't care about things that do not directly affect
their lives

Thats the conclusion I have come to...They may be nice people in their personal lives, but there is a certain lack of principle there that puzzles me...

I am not talking about Freeper types...they are awful but at least they have a friggin opinion...

60% of the people just don't care about anything but their own lives...so strange

20. it is hard NOT to be apathetic, when things are going so well for us
we are so affluent, comfortable... Can you blame joe six pack for not caring?

Really. I often ask myself, "Why do you care so much? It would be easier just to focus on gettin laid and makin cash..."

12. The Press
I kept saying it...unless the media lets the country know what the crooked, corrupt and lying republicans are doing, we will never ever be able to let the public know what is going on. And as long as the republicans own the media that's not gonna happen.

16. Sorry...but my feeling is that NO NEWS will tip the VOTERS from
changing things. I've seen dozens of examples of newsbreaks that I was convinced would sway things away from Bush. With the Diebold caveat accepted, it just seems as though the majority of those who come out to vote are getting exactly what they want.

As long as debt and gas are cheap, Americans will never really pay attention to what's going on.
