Please somebody post a summary of the damage. S.3930
What's the bottom line here. What does the Senate Torture Enabling Bill actually enable?

Could somebody who's knowledgeable about the specifics please post an executive summary so those of us who haven't been able to follow the debate closely can understand just how bad things are going to be?

1. Short answer:

president can interpret Geneva Conventions as he/she wishes. It is ok to torture because we are the good guys and this protects the military. Somehow. We are moral. The president gets to decide what is right and what is wrong.

3. Me either.
It is not just allowing torture, "interrogations", lack of trial, etc etc etc, but giving the power to the president to act as arresting person, judge, jury, all of it. I don't care who the president is, this is wrong.
