What are we missing? The opposition party
has enough members to filibuster this bill which trashes 200 years of constitutional law but doesn't have the votes to do so. I really need an explanation other than cowardice over an election year. It's not like people out there in the US don't expect democrats to be an opposition.

2. That would assume that we have a real 'opposition party'
A sleight of hand that works most days, but glaringly fails on others. Two of such days come to mind: A) Today, and B) IWR vote.

6. The third:
failing to get enough votes to filibuster the Alito nomintion. The SCOTUS is the last lynchpin in the total takeover and this gave them one very important vote.

What exactly is the right enough time to filibuster anyway? I'd like to know just what is important enough to them.

3. The Dems Are Just Doing What They Do Best
LOSE. I don't see why everyone is so upset. This is exactly what the Dems do day in and day out.

If we had spines, if we were "trying" to achieve victory, then we would cease to be Democrats.

We must continue LOSING, because that's the one thing our Democrat leaders are so so good at. If you take that away from them, we have nothing to be proud of

Everybody likes the lovable underdog loser. Enjoy it.

5. At this point, I would not be surprised to see Reid get screwed right
there in the Capitol by Frist! Lay down and take it like a man, Harry, you sure aren't opposing the GOP by making stupid agreements to not filibuster their legislation that destroys the Constitution.

What the hell, it's just a G*d damned piece of paper, right?

Did you really think there was any chance at all that the Dem Amendments could possibly pass? WTF?!?!?!?!?

11. No problem.
The bad thing is this very very very bad rightwing republican bill will be touted as bipartisan and they will make it appear that dems that stood with the US constitution were unreasonable and soft on terror.
