21. Why don't they just walk out?
The Dems need to UNANIMOUSLY WALK and proclaim with ONE, LOUD VOICE that they will not be part of this charade. The SCOTUS has already issued that this is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and therefore makes this bill illegitimate. Would this be a good idea?

69. Just got off the phone with Boxer's DC office
Staffer said too late to filibuster (same as Reids staffer). I urged a no on cloture. She said she wasn't sure what Boxer would do to stop the bill but she would vote against it. I don't think a filibuster is coming. Very sad day for the U.S.

93. I posted earlier that he was against this, and was shot down!
Everyone, without exception, said Arlen was an empty suit just speechifying until he could vote in Bush's favor. I have no love for Specter, but I do have a bit more respect for him now. He said his concern was for the rule of law, and it appears he is holding true to his words. At least for now.
