Time again to unfurl that ragged flag that says DON'T TREAD ON ME
Don't Tread on Me = NO KING GEORGE!

Seriously - get a Gadsden Flag and start flying it - get your friends and family to do the same.

A gift to the new revolutionaries from the late Michael O'Donoghue (and me)

Don't Tread on Me

In some old dusty attic
Undisturbed for many years
There lies a tattered banner
That is stained with blood and tears
By men who knew that freedom
Must be fought for by the free
And died to save a ragged flag
That said Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on Me
I'm a rattlesnake with
Diamonds down my back
When other men retreat
That's just the time that I attack
Because a dream that's worth defending
Is a dream that's bound to be
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Two hundred years of glory
And the glory's just begun
We may have lost some battles
But these colors never run
We drew the line at Valley Forge
We held at Bunker Hill
The cannon smoke is lifting
I can see that banner still

Don't Tread on me
I'm a mountain lion
And courage is my name
I tamed a wild country
But I'm wild just the same
And from that rocky Boston harbor
To the California Sea
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

This nation isn't what we've done
It's what we've got to do
Remember that United States
Can only start with you
We better be recalling
What this country's all about
And rally round that ragged flag
And hear the people shout
Don't Tread on Me
I'm a grizzly bear
That's not afraid to bite
I don't look for trouble
But when trouble comes I fight
Because my daddy taught me freedom
Has no lifetime guarantee
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

The winds of change are blowing
And they're sure to shake this land
We stood all we can take
And now it's time to take a stand
Let's tell the men who make the laws
In Washington D.C.
Unfurl again
That ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on me
I'm an eagle
Who is clawing at the sky
I want that banner waving up
Where eagles dare to fly
And blazing in the sunlight
So that friend and foe can see
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

Don't Tread on us
We're Americans
And we were born to lead
Our skin is every color
And our faith is every creed
We are 300 million people
But on one thing we agree
A ragged flag that said
Don't Tread on Me

1. Done
I furled the national colors after Mr. Bush stole the 2000 election and now when I put up a flag it is the Gadsden "Don't Tread On Me".

4. I remember Pat Buchanan used NO KING GEORGE theme to win NH primary
I think we can use it to bring a rebellious right to join us - hell - we may need their backup when BushInc comes for us.

9. One of the earliest flags of our Country
And the rattlesnake is one of the enduring symbols of our Revolution. There is great history behind the Gadsen Flag.

I brought that avatar to DU to use as I was surprised it wasn't there. I wish more people would fly it.

15. Why thankyou. They are pretty easy to find - Harley shops and Flag shops.
You can even get them online - research Gadsden Flag - it's the ORIGINAL flag of this country and the one under which they began their revolution.

Let us know when you find it.

never sleeps.

little blm is now in first grade - missing teeth and everything. Got into an argument with another first grader about Bush -

Little girl: George Bush is the president, Ava.

Ava: No he's not - he's a monkey in a man-suit.

Heh - I can't believe she remembered that from 4 years ago.

31. Guy Fawkes - V for Vendetta Costume:
Here is an example: http://www.buycostumes.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=21139&PCatID=Search+Results&ccatid=v%20for%20vendetta

I ordered the mask, hat, wig and cape...Then I'm wearing black pants and a black shirt and some black riding boots I have.

V for Vendetta is another great movie...I watched it for the first time last week and couldn't sleep...the similarities to the events happening here are too eerie. What then happens is even more frightening...that is ofcourse what I am afraid of for our country's future...

There is no mistaking what I mean to say with this year's costume....and I figure I can use it in the future for protests....

32. IF I go to a Halloween party, this is what I will dress like:

I already painted a Busler mask in florescent colours, and have a cowboy hat. If the weather is warm I'll wear all denim, some leather work gloves and some sunglasses (maybe with two tiny lights attached (I want to make glowing eyes), and carry a glow-in-the-dark, toy meat cleaver. I need to see if I can find a portable blacklight. If I can find it at a novelty shop here, I will buy a toy chainsaw to carry also. :D

36. Am having a hard time finding a place with XL in stock of these...
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 12:34 PM by calipendence
I decided I'd want to get a Grand Heritage version of V for Vendetta, as I'm guessing we'll need to wear it more than just for Halloween this year! :P

The place I just ordered it from, I managed to get it shipped for $125 with 10% off coupon.

As soon as I get it confirmed that it has shipped for me (I think they're packaging it now), I'll post links so that others can get good deals on it too. I don't have time to hunt down another good deal if they sell out. They don't sell the accessories, just the costumes, so you'll still need to get the additional wig and gloves elsewhere if you want them (they don't come with the suit sets).

The regular costume price with 10% off will also be around $54 shipped too. I think those prices are amongst the cheapest I've seen anywhere. Perhaps if enough of us hit them with "reservations" (if they don't have them in stock), they'll ramp up the stock soon so that a lot of us can get a good deal on them. We need VOLUME folks! We need to have a lot of us ready to march on Washington shortly afterward if need be!

38. Me too...I love the history of this flag and all its symbolism...
Here's a brief history of this flag:

The Culpeper Don't Tread on Me Flag

The Culpeper Don't Tread On Me Flag reportedly was first used as the banner for a group of about one hundred minutemen in Culpeper County, VA who formed part of Colonel Patrick Henry's First Virginia Regiment of 1775. In October-November 1775, three hundred such minutemen, led by Colonel Stevens, assembled at Culpeper Court House and marched for Williamsburg. Their unusual dress alarmed the people as they marched through the country. The words "Liberty or Death" were in large white letters on the breast of their hunting shirts. They had bucks' tails in their hats and in their belts, tomahawks and scalping knives.

Culpepper Flag in Philadelphia PhotoThe rattlesnake device occurs on several Revolutionary War flags. The rattlesnake's eye, supposedly brighter than any other creature's and with no eyelids, is the symbol of vigilance. It is said that the snake never begins an attack, but once aroused it never surrenders. The snake was also portrayed with 13 rattles, symbolic of the 13 American colonies.

35. The Red, White and Blue was actually a compromise with the Royalists who
did not want to change the "colours" of their homeland that they still felt loyal ties.

Bad choice, in my view. I stand with Ben Franklin.
