2. Need an "Other" catagory...
While they may have voted against this monstrosity, they may and probably will, vote for other things that are designed to screw us over, again. My "Other" would be not to vote at all.

3. Yes
All other things being equal. I mean if they said "I won't vote for this torture bill because it's not strong enough, we need to have more torture than this bill allows" maybe I wouldn't

8. This is insane. Apparently
there are many people here who have absolutely no idea how congress works. I am amazed to see so many of you who are willing to give bush his rubber stamp congress for two more years over this this single vote. Did these republicans voting against the bill change the outcome? How many times did these republicans vote with bush? Do you understand that if there was a Democratic majority this bill probably wouldn't have made it to the floor for a vote?

I'm starting to understand why they call us moon bats.

14. are they up for re-election this year?
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 10:15 AM by ellenfl
was the vote so close that they couldn't take a temporary stand? i don't have the numbers but my guess is that their votes were expendable anyway so they tried not to rock their own election boat.

15. A Republican opposed to torture is like a Nazi opposed Dr. Mengele.
Just a slightly kinder, slightly gentler path toward fascism.

So they can then go on supporting the republican agenda in majority. Don't be fooled, politics have always been filled with such strategic moves as this.

No, I wouldn't vote for them.
