The Brain Stem is an Amazing Thing
It controls our most basic animal instincts I.e., fight or
flight, the urge to re-produce, the drive for survival and so
on. It is thought to be the remnants of our
"reptilian" ancestors.

It is also the very organ in our bodies that account for some
truly stupefying things...

This organ I believe is what causes people to buy into the
RW/Neo-Con agenda. One only has to look at the proverbial
sheep mentality to explain this obviously self-destructive
behavior. It is our higher brain capacity that allows us to
reason, yet for whatever reason, so many people do not use it.
This to me...is the biggest mystery of life!

Another example in nature is the Alpha Male. The strongest
(in todays terms, the loudest and most passionate) takes
control and all others fall into submission.

Methinks Darwin was onto something.

In my opinion, the only way to win in this fight is by natural
selection. We have to beat the RW at their own game, because
to attempt to bring them up to our evolutionary level is on
it's face, ludicrous.

Now please do not for one moment think that I am referring to
those that are currently in charge, for they have evolved into
something completely different. Theirs is more of an
evolutionary hiccup. They show neither the capacity for
rational thought or compassion...just stay the course and damn
the consequences as long as I get mine.

No I am referring to those that continue to put these
miscreants in power. I am talking about power perceived, is
power achieved and this past weekend, president Clinton has
shown us the way.

In order to achieve the perception of power, we can not show
the slightest dissent among our own, for this is perceived as
a weakness Ie., the Dem's have no plan. Brain stem thinkers
feel the urge (dare I say visceral need) to back a winner.
And if the Dem's cannot provide this perceived power, then all
of the complaining and bellyaching in the world will not
change anything.

"It does not take sharp eyes to see the sun and the moon,
nor does it take sharp ears to hear the thunderclap. Wisdom is
not obvious. You must see the subtle and notice the hidden to
be victorious."

1. Hell, if you think the stem is amazing,
wait till you see the rest of it.

Someday, those primitive creatures using an elephant as a mascot may devlop something more than just a brainstem. Nah, I really doubt that.

8. No no no
Ol Swampy and I love to mess with eachother (anyone who gets in the way is considered 'collateral damage'), but probably the reason you don't believe in a neo-con conspiracy agenda is because you haven't been around DU very long.

Actually it is more of a BFEE and PNAC conspiracy - ordinary cons (paleocons and neocons alike) have been left out in the cold by the Bush/Cheney crowd.

BTW welcome to DU! :hi:
