8. Nope. I'd do what Woody Allen proposed in "Love and Death".
I would flee. F-L-E-A. Flee.

I come from a long line of flee-ers.

18. This is how I feel.
I think if conscripted, I'd serve, but I'd far rather be a part of the process of making my country safe in a different way. One that might require constant care--educating, speaking out, encouraging the American ideal (as in--the Bill of Rights freedoms and so on).

39. For whose benefit?

For the $160K/year numnut middle manager asshole that cut me off in his SUV on the way to a sporting event and if I were starving on the corner would tell me to "get a job?" No.

Ideals aren't worth dying for unless the beneficiaries are too. "Not a good Samaritan" exception to the "love thy neighbor" clause.

From whom? Would that enemy be an illusory external bogeyman or the very real threat of the internal threat who does not at all appear to be like "The Other."

23. Not any longer...
Not this country...

I spent 39 months in combat for the wrong country way back when.

I am willing to die only for my loved ones.

Not beliefs.

Not principles.

Not patriotism.

Not goodness.

Not Ideals.

Not nothing...

Just for the ones who mean something to me and me to them.

I'll die to save my children's America from authoritarian rule. I'm not sure I'd die to save it from a clear majority of dunces who neither understand nor care to understand what this country is all about.

And I'd take as many of them with me as possible.

If I can sell my properties i tis housing crash - off to New Zealand. If I have to stay here, well at least I have many thousands of rounds of ammo for self-defense.

(Edited to add)

In Brown v. Vasquez, 952 F.2d 1164, 1166 (9th Cir. 1991), cert. denied, 112 S.Ct. 1778 (1992), the court observed that the Supreme Court has "recognized the fact that`the writ of habeas corpus is the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action.' Harris v. Nelson, 394 U.S. 286, 290-91 (1969). " Therefore, the writ must be "administered with the initiative and flexibility essential to insure that miscarriages of justice within its reach are surfaced and corrected." Harris, 394 U.S. at 291.

38. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees...
I hope if it ever comes down to these two options, i will stand up and die for what i believe is right.

I know that the battle for this country is really a battle against a group that does not care about the poor, the elderly, the children, the sick, the hungry, the abused, the dead...in this country or any other. Their victims are not only their perceived enemies. They send their own nation's children to die for profit. I feel responsibility. I feel responsibility for all those who are terrorized by my nations hand. They died, grieved and starved while i lived, loved and ate. The mess belongs to me.

I did not vote for them, I never supported them, i spoke out against them at every turn BUT I DID NOT STOP THEM. Others have paid the price for my nations folly and i am ashamed. I watched as my country attempted to force others to live on their knees. They are dying on their feet every day. Other peoples children are already living the nightmare i fear for my children.

If i do not fight for my country, my country will continue to lie, steal destroy and kill IN MY NAME. Yes, i would die for my country, so my own children won't and other people's children do not have to...anymore.

But I suggest canvassing & volunteering first. It's all very melodramatic & noble to talk about dying for your country, but it doesn't mean much if people aren't willing to do the small things in their everyday lives to change things.
