The FIRST TIME a news show REPORTED the detailed timeline and actions of
Edited on Wed Sep-27-06 08:34 PM by blm
the two presidents and their cabinets involved in the decisionmaking process during the crucial year before 9-11-2001....

and it just happened TONIGHT....

FIVE years AFTER the event.

THAT is what is wrong with this country.

Our country and our constitution are built to work with an honest media and fair debate. Without it, we are NOT the United States of America. We are a failed nation.

And how that makes so many Republicans happy is a mystery that only fascists can appreciate.

We need more Keith Olbermann's, and we needed them for the last ten years.

There is NOTHING important that can be heard anymore in modern America without accurate research and a regularly accessed microphone.

2. We have only had an open and honest media once...
And that was the period between 1955 thru 1975....

After that, all down hill....

Before that, yellow journalism....

12. Most of us grew up with that real media, and recognize the NEED it serves.

13. I did grow up with that...
Most of the people here have grown up with the Reagen area media and the gotcha journalism that undermined investigative reports by being a wisp of news that went away as soon as the next gotcha event occured...

Also, most broadcast journalism is, by nature, image oriented and they can not sustain a long detailed exploration of any issue that is not image oriented... It's the nature of the beast....

People need to read...

14. Imagine if Iraq and Afghanistan were given ONE-THIRD the serious attention
that was given to Vietnam.

People today only see and hear news READERS, not real reporters who understand every word they are speaking and how it relates to the overall story.

Today, the faces get hung up on one aspect of a story they can sensationalize, losing the overall substance - and they do it to almost every story.

15. It is really hard to watch the news reader rushing to an event...
and pretending that they are Dan Rathers in Vietnam...

The Daily show has gone a long way to debunk that type of "journalism"...

16. You're right. And Olbermann is now on fire after kicking HIMSELF to take
a stand for honest journalism that no one else would take for FIVE YEARS. 5 years is al LONG time for any country to go without at least one hour a day devoted to at least SOME truthful reporting of the news.

4. Which program was it?
OK you got me curious. So which Tee Vee news was it???

Also, we need to look at this with optimism, noy just scorn because it took the corrupt media so long. Look at Keith Olberman, he's sounding good huh?

A pessimist is someone who, when opportunity knocks, complains about the noise.

But i agree with you, the media has been weak and cowardly for years and years.

9. I sat there watching the segment with TEARS in my eyes. How long we waited
for SOME TRUTH to be told and done in an orderly way to capture the storyline EXACTLY as it happened?

Imagine what some of the 9-11 families were feeling tonight.

I shudder to think how THEY will weep......again.

11. It certainly was.
Come on, I couldn't be the only one crying. I know how much this reporting meant to alot of people here who always maintained some hope that a journalist would FINALLY do his job.
