Edited on Wed Sep-27-06 08:18 PM by Solly Mack
When.Congress.votes.to.give.you.that.authority.

You can't complain how Bush "interprets" anything if you vote to give him the authority to do so.

Sec. 108:

- "No person may invoke the Geneva Conventions...as a source of rights in any court of the United States or its States or territories."
"...the President has the authority for the United States to interpret the meaning and application of the Geneva Conventions..." -

Text of torture "compromise" bill

because I think it's important to understand that a person that votes to support this bill is not a person that will ever hold Bush accountable

They can't. They're complicit. They're guilty too.

6. Thanks
I left home twenty five years ago 9-25-81 for Paris Island SC. marine boot camp.

been out for twenty+ but I know how to read the conventions, I was trained on them, and I see no ambiguity there. IMHO we have become something that has never yet existed on this planet, a dying sole superpower with the knowledge of the possible downfall of human civilization.

Clash of civilizations, global warming, corruption and apathy, we are struggling on all fronts with no leadership to address the problem. This usurpation of our long held principals is just one more warning sign passed on the road to hell.

I guess we just keep on keepin on, till we have to do something else.

see you on the other side.

12. After what we went through here in New Orleans,
I warned folks the storm would be heading their way. We were just part of the warm-up exercise, Martial Law, suspension of Habeas Corpus... now comes torture...

13. And what sickens me most
above all else...are the people that will find a way to justify this so they can go on believing this bill doesn't change America

people that will rationalize this away so they

they'll just learn to live with it

learn to live with tyranny

16. The Geneva Conventions are meaningless; the law is meaningless.
