Need opinions please - letter to my congresswoman who voted
for the detainee bill - I haven't hit send yet.....too strong?

Dear "Honorable" Myrick:

You should be ashamed of yourself - I am appalled.

I should expect as much from a republican but to vote to pass a bill that gives detainees no recourse in court to challenge their detention is beyond sinister.

You are a disgrace to our state and I will do everything in my power to make sure you are not elected again.

I can only hope that one day you or someone in your family is detained and treated to the same "law" you just passed in another country.

With total disgust,

xxxxxx

An Open Letter To Leader Pelosi:

My condolences on the loss of your spine, I know it must be very difficult to stand up to the Republicans on HR 6166 because your spine is now missing. I am sorry to say that I too have lost my spine, and I will find it very difficult to stand in a voting booth this year and vote for my Congresswoman Diana DeGette. This affliction appears to have struck her as well and many others in the House and Senate Democratic Caucuses. It is also my understanding that my fellow trench-level Democrats will find it difficult to vote for their respective Democrats as well this year for the very same reason.

Sincerely,
OPCKELLY

PS: There may be a cure for this affliction. If you could demonstrate the ability to get up and walk out of the House of Representatives September 27, 2006, and break the quorum, I might find the inspiration to vote November 7th.

3. Sounds kind of freeperish to me
If you want to punish and insult her, then it is a good email. If you want to influence her votes in the future, maybe you should make it sound like you are going to vote for someone else unless she starts voting like a Democrat. IMO of course.

4. Freeperish? That's not good. It is being addressed to a
republican so maybe that's a good thing.

7. Oh, I just assumed you were laying into a Dem, since that is what
is usually going on around DU. When I send letters and emails, I usually try to do what I can to influence their vote in the future, as opposed to just ripping into them. If they know you aren't going to vote for them anyway, why should they care about your opinion? They might listen to your opinion more if you present yourself as someone who has supported in the past but is starting to waver.

5. show some respect
Even if she doesn't deserve it.

"Dear Congresswoman Myrick:

I was appalled to learn that you voted in favor of a bill that gives detainees no recourse in court to challenge their detention. I feel that the way the Republicans' "war on terror" has been conducted goes against everything good about this country and makes a mockery of the Constitution you are sworn to uphold."

If you have been disappointed with her other votes, let her know, and assure her that you will be encouraging others to vote for her challenger in November.

8. Thanks - you are right and after reading your suggestion I inserted
your version and finished with this:

Dear Congresswoman Myrick:

I was appalled to learn that you voted in favor of a bill that gives detainees no recourse in court to challenge their detention. I feel that the way the Republicans' "war on terror" has been conducted goes against everything good about this country and makes a mockery of the Constitution you are sworn to uphold.

Stripping anyone of basic human rights is wrong, regardless of what they are accused of doing. I can only hope that one of our soldiers isn't captured in another country that adopts a similar approach to the law your just helped past.

We need leaders in NC who will not "rubber stamp" away everything that our great country should stand for.

Regards,

Maybe she'll at least read it but she's a republican so it's almost a waste of time. Thanks so much for the help!

10. I need to find out who's running against her - I'm really pissed off
now. They will get all my donation money just because I want to see someone wipe that smirk off her face.

12. I think I would like your Mom. I just did some research on Myrick
and the guy who is running against her apparently isn't doing very well. Bummer. Tell your Mom to keep up the good fight! 2006 doesn't look real good but I'm already going to start working on 2008. She's going down.
