"Until Congress passes this legislation, terrorists .. cannot be tried.."
Bill Frist said this today:

"Until Congress passes this legislation, terrorists ... cannot be tried for war crimes in the United States..."

Gee Bill, you've only been MAJORITY LEADER for 4 YEARS - why didn't you pass this legislation in 2002? 2003? 2004? 2005?

Oh, right, you weren't covering for Bush administration WAR CRIMES then.

And your party wasn't hurting in the polls then.

1. Bill Frist is lying.
We can try terrorists in federal courts.

The courts we have had in the US for hundreds of years.

There is no need to create military tribunals in Cuba.

4. Oh, there's a need, all right.
We're being sold a multi-tiered "justice" system. Sure, we already had one. Ebbers and Fastow aren't going to a penitentiary (and don't seem that penitent, anyway).

The new wrinkle is the secret courts that are so at odds with the Constitution that they have to be kept offshore and away from cameras. Pretty soon we'll hear the assurances that no, they'll never be used against American citizens; this will be our cue that such a story is indeed about to break.

They'll have us all kneeling before they're done.
